Mumbai, September 20, 2024: The Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, in collaboration with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority announced the successful completion of the 17th edition of the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo, an annual event that highlights Zimbabwe as a premier travel destination. The Ministry invites international buyers to explore Zimbabwe’s diverse tourism offerings each year. This year as a prelude to the prestigious event, a select group of Indian travel agents embarked on an unforgettable educational tour of Zimbabwe from September 7th to 16th, 2024.

A variety of pre-tour itineraries were designed to showcase Zimbabwe’s diverse tourism offerings. These itineraries included journeys through the Eastern Highlands, Lake Kariba, and Great Zimbabwe, allowing participants to explore the country’s stunning landscapes, abundant wildlife, and luxurious experiences. The agents were immersed in a series of unforgettable experiences that allowed them to connect deeply with Zimbabwe’s unique attractions.

The tour’s highlight was the visit to the majestic Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and the largest sheet of falling water on the planet, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its breathtaking beauty and exhilarating adventures left an unforgettable impression.

A sunset cruise on the Zambezi River provided a serene escape, as participants sailed beneath the golden hues of the setting sun, witnessing wildlife along the banks and enjoying the tranquil ambiance. The Boma Experience, a vibrant cultural celebration, offered a taste of Zimbabwean cuisine and traditions, with energetic performances and interactive experiences. For the thrill-seekers, the Victoria Falls Helicopter Ride and Bungee Jump provided unforgettable adventures. Soaring above the majestic falls and plunging into the Batoka Gorge offered a heart-pounding experience that will remain etched in their memories. Wildlife enthusiasts were treated to exhilarating game drives in Zambezi National Park, where they encountered iconic African wildlife in their natural habitat. A visit to Mana Pools offered an unforgettable journey through one of the most breathtaking national parks, where knowledgeable guides provide authentic wildlife encounters, including the rare chance to explore the wilderness on foot through walking safaris. The tour also included cultural experiences such as the Simunye Theatrical Experience and the Vulture Experience, highlighting Zimbabwe’s dedication to preserving its rich heritage and protecting its diverse wildlife.

To complement the unforgettable experiences, the agents visited some of Zimbabwe’s finest luxury accommodations, including Bayete Lodge, Nkosi Lodge, Ilala Hotel, The Victoria Falls Hotel, Palm River Hotel, Elephant Hills Resort, Victoria Falls Safari Lodge & Club, Zambezi Sands Luxury Camp, Old Drift Lodge, Elephant Camp, The Wallow Lodge, The Rainbow Towers, Zambezi Boutique Guest Lodge, and Pioneers Lodge. These properties offer world-class amenities and exceptional service, further solidifying Zimbabwe’s reputation as a premier destination for discerning travellers.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Zimbabwe in New Delhi, H.E Ambassador Stella Nkomo, expressed excitement about the recent visit of Indian travel professionals stating “We are thrilled to have hosted the Indian travel trade in Zimbabwe, and with Victoria Falls Zimbabwe, alongside Namibia and South Africa, set to co-host the 2027 Cricket World Cup, we look forward to welcoming Indian travellers to experience our country’s diverse wonders beyond the cricket pitch.”

Pranav Kapadia, Founder & Director of Global Destinations, expressed his enthusiasm for promoting the destination, stating, “Attending Sanganai/Hlanganani, at the invitation of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, was an exceptional opportunity to showcase Zimbabwe’s remarkable beauty and strengthen the ties between our two nations’ travel industries. It was a privilege to collaborate with the Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe and support the H.E. Ambassador’s vision to raise awareness of Zimbabwe as a top travel destination. I am confident that the agents will return to India with a renewed appreciation for Zimbabwe as a must-visit destination.”

Zimbabwe’s unwavering commitment to attracting Indian tourists is evident in its multifaceted approach. The country’s convenient visa-on-arrival policy streamlines the travel process for Indian visitors, making Zimbabwe an accessible and attractive destination. Coupled with its diverse offerings—from breathtaking landscapes and thrilling adventures to rich cultural experiences—Zimbabwe aims to become a top-of-mind choice for Indian travellers seeking a memorable journey.

Zimbabwe’s dedication to the Indian market is further underscored by its strategic global presence. With one of its 11 Tourism Attachés stationed in India, the country demonstrates its keen interest in fostering stronger tourism ties. India’s recognition as one of Zimbabwe’s top 10 source markets highlights the growing popularity of this African gem among Indian travellers.

To capitalize on this momentum, Zimbabwe has implemented a strategic plan to elevate India to one of its top five source markets within the next three years. This ambitious goal reflects the country’s unwavering commitment to attracting Indian tourists and showcasing the unique experiences it offers.
