Pullman New Delhi Aerocity joins hands with The Art Registry to bring forth the unsung art of the world and visits the bylanes of Jammu to celebrate the traditional art of Basohli and the local artists behind it.

The Art Registry is an eclectic and refreshing creative space to showcase stirring & significant art created by not only seasoned and prominent artists but also promising emerging artists. It is an excellent platform for the innately talented rural artists and global art lovers to connect with each other and highlight hidden gems of the precious indigenous Indian Art traditions. With this intent, the platform associates with Pullman New Delhi Aerocity and visits the birthplace of Basohli art to get in touch with rural women who are dedicatedly keeping the art alive.

Nestled in the lower Himalayas, right on the banks of the Ravi river, lies a town which was once the capital of a principality teeming with artists, musicians, palaces and a flourishing tradition of miniature paintings eponymously named after the town – Basohli. Beautifully illustrated with bright colors and geometrical patterns, Basohli Paintings are considered the first school of Pahari paintings. Originating from the town of Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, the style developed under the patronage of Raja Kripal Pal and is an unconventional and rich piece of artwork.

‘Artist Junction’, at Pullman New Delhi Aerocity is a dedicated space for artists across the globe and is a destination for creativity and brilliance. By including this art form that is steeped in culture, the brand encourages local artists to showcase their work and aims to provide a bespoke experience for the guests at the hotel. In collaboration with The Art Registry, Pullman New Delhi Aerocity brings home the beautiful Basohli Art in a dedicated art zone which is a vibrant space curated in collaboration with emerging artists who can showcase their work in a unique environment.

‘Tour De Art’ is an initiative which bespeaks tradition, culture and heritage—a chance to experience a melange of artistic influences from across the country. It’s also a much needed boost to the art-centered endeavors being undertaken by the Pullman brand to bring a unique flair to the city.
