Anyone familiar with the legendary stories of Jim Corbett must have heard the name  Ramnagar on many occasions. Anyone heading toward Jim Corbett National Park today would find the little town of Ramnagar as the last locality before the forest area starts.

The rather busy rail station of Ramnager thanks to the worldwide popularity of the park, has also a different story of its own, unknown to many travellers. It is also known to be one of the most haunted railway stations in India due to the many stories of ghostly encounters and supernatural occurrences associated with the mysterious little rail station.

Local legend has it that the station is haunted by the ghost of a British officer who took his own life by jumping in front of a train passing through the station. The officer was said to be deeply in love with a local woman who was already engaged to another man. Heartbroken, the officer decided to end his life by jumping in front of the train.

Since then, there have been numerous reports of strange occurrences at the station, especially at night. Passengers and railway workers have reported hearing strange noises and feeling a sense of unease. Some have even reported seeing the ghostly figure of the British officer walking along the tracks or on the platform.

Despite these claims of paranormal activity, Ramnagar Station continues to be an important hub for travellers visiting the Jim Corbett National Park. In fact, many visitors are intrigued by the station’s association with the supernatural and hope to catch a glimpse of the ghostly figure during their visit.

In 2018, a team of ghost hunters visited the station to investigate the paranormal activity. They used thermal imaging cameras and other high-tech equipment but didn’t find any concrete evidence of the ghostly presence. However, they did report feeling a sense of unease and tension at the station.

Despite the stories of ghostly activity, Ramnagar Station remains an important part of the railway network in Uttar Pradesh. It has a unique position as a gateway to one of India’s most stunning natural wonders, and its association with the supernatural only adds to its allure.

The stories of ghostly activity at Ramnagar Station serve as a testament to the enduring power of folklore and the supernatural in the cultural traditions of India. Whether or not the stories are true, they continue to capture the imaginations of visitors to the station and add to its unique character.
