The Filthy Animal, a limited-edition luxury dining pop-up curated by Chef Vivek Salunkhe, makes its debut at Nalapad’s Hotel Bangalore International. In a city where the dining scene is restless, curious, and unafraid of excess, The Filthy Animal finds its most instinctive home. Half underground culinary pop-up, half cinematic theatre, The Filthy Animal does not intend to tick boxes on a diner’s list. Instead, it aims to provoke feeling, flavour, and fire, reimagining fine dining as a dark, immersive arena where rare ingredients, theatrical service, and unapologetic indulgence take centre stage for a month-long run in Bangalore.

For too long, India’s most discerning diners have stamped their passport and left home for experiences like this – travelling to Tokyo for Wagyu, to Europe for truffles and caviar and to Copenhagen for chef-driven series’ that bend the rules more than respect them. The Filthy Animal comes to life to flip this notion around,  putting our country on the pitch, not on the sidelines. Luxury dining experiences have become a destination in itself, with 82% of Indian travellers selecting destinations based on food experiences, according to a booking.com survey conducted in 2024. This pop-up brings the kind of ingredients, excess, and audacity that once required a flight ticket, to now be plated up for Bangalore.

Speaking on the launch, Omar Haris Nalapad, Founder of Filthy Animals, said, “Indian diners today are fearless. They’re no longer impressed by formality or labels- they want intensity, rarity, and stories worth retelling. The Filthy Animal is about turning up the volume on luxury, stripping away stiffness, and putting emotion back into one unforgettable dining experience. India doesn’t want to just travel for luxury anymore – it wants to define it“.

    The Filthy Animal

Directing this theatre is Chef Vivek Salunkhe, Head Chef whose menu reads like a confident departure from convention: There is an insatiable hunger in India right now beyond premium ingredients – a hunger for food that provokes curiosity, stuns, and sparks conversations. At The Filthy Animal, globally sourced ingredients- some rarely seen in India- are handled with both precision and irreverence. This is an invitation to suspend expectations, embrace indulgence, and experience something entirely new.”

    The Food

The menu is a bold, boundary-pushing showcase of global luxury, curating rare ingredients, playful names, and unexpected pairings to create a dining experience that flaunts excess as art. Iconic standouts like the Alba Truffle Bomb with rare white gold truffles, the caviar-crowned Rich Kid Benedict, and the luxe Wagyu of the Sea signal a culinary universe designed for those who collect experiences, not just possessions. Each creation, from the turbocharged Lamborghini lamb sausage to the all-duck ensemble The Quacker, reads like a culinary dare, crafted for those who crave gastronomic spectacle. Capping off the large plates is the audacious, hyper-luxe Steak of The Universe – one plate which houses the three finest cuts of the sky, sea and the earth, some which have not been allowed to our country in the past.

    The Theatre

The interiors follow this dramatic suit, with black out curtains collaring a clandestine waiting room, where patrons take a few deep breaths before entering the space. This waiting room is adorned with small marble tables, the only light coming from the small, warm table lamps present. On each of these tables lies a small bell, which, when rung, summons Filthy Animal’s ‘Sin Dealers’ – a mixologist who peeks through the satin curtain to take your drink order while you await your seat at the theater. Once you’ve made it through the waiting room’s curtains – the dining area greets you with red neon lights adorning the far walls, casting a gentle warm glow around the room. The room seems to disappear towards the borders, fading into black, while the tables are gently lit by lamps, standing guard to ensure menus are readable and the faces across you are just visible enough to see their reactions to each bite. After 11PM, the space transforms, with musical acts across genres bringing post-dinner entertainment right to your table, bringing together the best of culinary and live performance for audiences at the second slot.

From its clandestine waiting room to its after-dark evolution, The Filthy Animal is designed to disorient, captivate, and thrill. More than a pop-up, it signals a movement- one that challenges what luxury dining in India can look, feel, and sound like.

The Filthy Animal steps out of its cage and into Bangalore, and it has no intention of behaving.
