Sterling Holiday Resorts has unveiled Sterling Mount Olive Gangtok, a contemporary city hotel located in the very heart of Gangtok. Designed for travellers who value ease of access, connectivity, and proximity to the city’s commercial & cultural pulse, the hotel offers a refined & efficient stay experience in the Eastern Himalayas.

This launch marks Sterling’s second property in Gangtok, complementing the brand’s existing leisure resort, Sterling Gangtok Orange Village, which is set amid quieter surroundings outside the city.

Located in Development Area—the business and administrative hub of Gangtok—Sterling Mount Olive Gangtok sits on elevated terrain and offers sweeping views of the city skyline from its rooms and balconies. Its central location places guests within walking distance of key government offices, business centres, and the vibrant MG Marg shopping promenade, making it an ideal choice for business travellers, professionals on short stays, and leisure travellers who prefer to stay close to the city’s action.

As travel to the Eastern Himalayas becomes increasingly multi-dimensional—with visitors combining work trips, short city breaks, and onward leisure journeys to destinations such as Darjeeling and Kalimpong— the hotel adds a distinctly urban dimension to Sterling’s growing presence in the region. It serves as a convenient base for travellers who want to maximise their time in Gangtok, whether for meetings, sightseeing, shopping, or short exploratory stays.

Commenting on the launch, Vikram Lalvani, Managing Director & CEO, Sterling Holiday Resorts, said, “The launch of Sterling Mount Olive Gangtok strengthens our presence in the North East with a hotel that is purposefully designed around location and accessibility. Gangtok attracts both business and leisure travellers throughout the year, & this property addresses the need for a centrally located, high-quality stay that allows guests to engage closely with the city while enjoying Sterling’s signature comfort and service.”

The property features thoughtfully designed rooms with private balconies. The interiors follow a warm, contemporary design language with soft lighting and calming views of the hills or city, making the hotel well-suited for short business trips, extended stays, and small families seeking a convenient urban base.

Dining at the hotel is led by Latitude 27, an all-day restaurant inspired by the Himalayan latitude that runs through the region. The restaurant offers a mix of global comfort cuisine and regional specialities such as Masyang ko Dal, Baans ko Tusa and Thentuk, with an emphasis on seasonal ingredients and relaxed, unhurried dining—making it a natural social hub for both resident guests and visitors.

The hotel’s central location also allows easy access to key attractions such as Tashi View Point, the spiritually significant Do Drul Chorten, and natural sites like Banjhakri Falls. Longer excursions to Tsomgo Lake and the revered Baba Mandir can be conveniently planned as day trips, positioning the hotel as a practical launch point for discovering both Gangtok and its surroundings.

Sterling Mount Olive Gangtok is well connected via Bagdogra Airport and New Jalpaiguri (NJP) railway station, ensuring smooth access for domestic and international travellers alike.

With this launch, Sterling continues to expand its portfolio with thoughtfully located, experience-led properties—offering travellers the choice between serene resort retreats and centrally located city hotels, while reinforcing its growing footprint across Sikkim and the wider North-East region.
