The State Tourism Department has launched a major eco-friendly tourism project at Aanathazhchira, located near Technocity in Pallippuram, as part of its efforts to promote unexplored destinations and boost eco-tourism and nightlife tourism in the region.
Marking the commencement of the project, Tourism Minister Shri P A Mohamed Riyas received the title deed for 16.7 acres of land owned by the Revenue Department at Andoorkonam Grama Panchayat from Revenue Minister Shri K Rajan during a formal ceremony held at Aanathazhchira Ground. The event was presided over by Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Shri G R Anil, who represents the constituency.
Addressing the gathering, Tourism Minister Shri Riyas emphasized that the project would not only benefit the local community but also enhance the overall landscape of the village. “Tourism projects like this have the potential to transform communities and bring significant development to a region,” he said.
Revenue Minister Shri K Rajan echoed similar sentiments, highlighting Aanathazhchira’s proximity to Technocity and its immense tourism potential. Shri Anil praised the Tourism Minister for taking forward the proposal, acknowledging the area’s untapped opportunities.
The eco-friendly initiative will focus on water adventure sports, an eco-friendly park for children, and a dedicated bicycle track. Additionally, the project will incorporate nightlife tourism elements, aiming to attract diverse visitor segments.
Adding to the significance of the location, the Freedom Park of Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) is also being developed nearby. This first-of-its-kind facility in the country will feature exhibition spaces showcasing innovations by startups.
The project is proposed to be implemented under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. An Expression of Interest (EoI) for construction activities related to the ‘nightlife project’ is expected to be floated in September.
Prominent attendees at the event included Shri M Jaleel, Chairman of the Public Works Standing Committee, District Panchayat; Smt Unaisa Ansari, Member, District Panchayat; Shri S Harikumar, President, Andoorkonam Grama Panchayat; and other local representatives.
This ambitious initiative underscores the government’s commitment to leveraging tourism as a tool for sustainable development while promoting Kerala as a hub for innovation and eco-conscious travel.
