SriLankan Airlines has officially shifted its operations to Terminal 1 at Velana International Airport, effective December 17, 2025, marking a significant milestone in enhancing air connectivity and passenger experience in the Maldives.

To celebrate the inaugural move, the Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) organized a ceremonial welcome for passengers arriving on flight UL101 and departing on UL102 from the newly upgraded terminal. His Excellency Mohamed Rizvi Hassen, Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to the Maldives, attended as Chief Guest, joined by senior representatives from MACL and SriLankan Airlines.
The airline currently operates three daily flights to Malé via its Colombo hub, offering seamless connections to a global network spanning 117 destinations across 59 countries. The state-of-the-art Terminal 1 is equipped with modern amenities designed to elevate traveller comfort, streamline transit processes, and support the Maldives’ growing tourism sector.
This strategic transition not only reflects SriLankan Airlines’ commitment to service excellence but also reinforces bilateral ties between Sri Lanka and the Maldives, paving the way for stronger regional collaboration in aviation and tourism.
