In a high-profile series of multi-city luxury wedding showcases across India, the island nation brought together top Sri Lankan hotels, resorts, heritage venues, and wedding service providers with India’s leading wedding planners, travel agents, and media representatives. The events offered an immersive taste of Sri Lanka’s wedding potential—complete with exclusive networking opportunities and tailor-made concepts designed to cater to both elaborate traditional Indian ceremonies and chic, contemporary celebrations.

    Celebrate Love in Paradise’

Buddhika Hewawasam, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, extended a heartfelt invitation to India, saying: “Sri Lanka is now open for destination weddings, and we invite India to come celebrate love with us. The overwhelming response across India reaffirmed our belief that Sri Lanka holds a special place in the hearts of Indian couples. From pristine beaches and tea garden retreats to colonial mansions and heritage forts, the island offers everything needed to create truly unforgettable weddings.”

The campaign underscores what makes Sri Lanka stand out:
    – Diverse Venues – From barefoot beach vows and serene garden ceremonies to regal celebrations in heritage forts and luxury resorts.
    – Proximity & Easy Access – Short flights from major Indian cities and hassle-free visas.
    – Luxury Meets Affordability – Packages for both grand, multi-day weddings and smaller boutique affairs.
    – Trusted Expertise – World-class hospitality teams familiar with Indian traditions.
    – Unique Touches – Cultural welcomes, VIP facilitation, and full logistical support, including customs clearance for décor and production items.

Importantly, Mr. Hewawasam also highlighted that “sustainability and community engagement” remain at the heart of Sri Lanka’s tourism vision—even for large-scale celebrations—ensuring events benefit local communities while preserving the island’s natural and cultural heritage.

The showcases saw strong participation from Sri Lankan luxury hotels, iconic venues, and destination management companies, alongside India’s top wedding planners and travel experts. Organizers say the enthusiasm is a reflection of a growing trend, particularly over the last two years, of Indian couples opting for unique, boutique-style weddings abroad.

With its rich cultural connections, unmatched scenery, and world-class hospitality, Sri Lanka is positioning itself as India’s go-to wedding paradise. Industry stakeholders are optimistic the segment will see significant growth, as more couples look for destinations that blend tradition, luxury, and personalized experiences—without straying too far from home.
