The moment I stepped into Café at Hyatt Regency New Delhi it was almost an instant transportation to a spirit of Joget along with the tantalizing aroma of Kambing Masak Hitam filled every corner of the room, building up the excitement for the grand culinary voyage that awaited us.
As we took our seats, we couldn’t help but marvel at the perfect hospitality and ambiance of the café. The balanced lighting and the tasteful décor set the stage for an unforgettable evening filled with chat, lively discussions, and, of course, delectable food.
The young and charming Chefs Nazmie and Afiq from Kuala Lumpur, made sure to explain each dish in detail, leaving us captivated by the cultural significance and flavors of everything we were about to try.
As we eagerly awaited our first course, Sup Ayam, a traditional chicken soup, arrived at our tables. The rich and aromatic broth warmed us from the inside, carrying hints of lemongrass and other spices that were perfectly balanced.
Next came the star of the evening – Kambing Masak Hitam. The tender and succulent pieces of lamb slow-cooked in an array of aromatic spices, melted in our mouths. The dark and flavorful gravy complemented the meat perfectly, creating a harmony of flavors that we couldn’t get enough of.
The Ayam Masak Ros, a chicken dish cooked in a spicy tomato sauce, was another crowd favorite. The blend of tanginess from the tomatoes, heat from the spices, and succulence from the tender chicken created a medley of flavors that left us wanting more.
For those with a love for seafood, the Gulai Udang Masak was a true delight. The tiger prawns bathed in a creamy and fragrant coconut-based curry with a hint of spiciness from the green chilies. Every bite was a burst of flavors that took us straight to the shores of Malaysia.
To cleanse our palate, we were served Soto Ayam, a chicken noodle soup that was light and refreshing. The aromatic broth filled with herbs and spices paired perfectly with the tender chicken and springy noodles, leaving us refreshed and ready for the next course.
As the evening drew to a close, we indulged in the dessert – bubur pulut hitam. The sweet and creamy black glutinous rice pudding topped with a dollop of coconut cream was a perfect way to end the Malaysian feast. The combination of textures and flavors, with the coconut cream cutting through the richness of the rice, left us satisfied and content.
The Malaysian food festival at Hyatt Regency https://www.instagram.com/hyattregencydelhi/was truly an awe-inspiring experience. The organizers deserve full marks for bringing an exotic Asian delight like this right to the heart of the national capital. It was a week-long celebration of diverse culinary heritage, and we felt fortunate to be a part of it. As we left the café, our taste buds still singing with the flavors of Malaysia, we couldn’t help but eagerly anticipate the next culinary adventure that awaited us.
