Dubai — Ultra-luxury hospitality brand Soneva Group has strengthened its leadership ranks with the appointment of three seasoned executives, coinciding with the opening of the company’s new global headquarters in Dubai.
Joanna Flint has stepped into the role of Chief Commercial Officer, bringing with her more than two decades of experience in luxury hospitality and technology. Flint’s résumé includes senior roles at Mandarin Oriental, Google, and Singapore Airlines. Industry insiders expect her to sharpen Soneva’s global commercial strategy, focusing on sales growth, data-led decision-making, digital innovation, and enhancing the customer experience.
Joining the group as Chief Financial Officer is Chris Whitehouse, a veteran of financial strategy, corporate financing, and asset management. Whitehouse’s career spans leadership positions at The Dot Group, Candy & Candy, and CPC—organisations known for their work in luxury real estate development and large-scale student housing. His remit will include bolstering Soneva’s financial framework and guiding sustainable expansion.
Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer. Over a 25-year career in luxury hospitality, Sharma has worked across the Maldives, India, Egypt, and Mauritius. In his previous role as Group General Manager, he oversaw operations at Soneva’s three resorts, earning a reputation for meticulous attention to detail and exceptional guest experiences.
The appointments come as Soneva opens its Dubai global headquarters—a strategic move aimed at positioning the company at the “crossroads of East and West.” The new base is expected to strengthen ties with regional and international partners, attract top-tier talent, and tap into new feeder markets.
“We are delighted to welcome Joanna and Chris to the Soneva family and to announce Abhishek’s promotion,” said Neil Gallagher, CEO of Soneva Group. “Their extensive global experience will be invaluable as we unlock the potential for the Group while maintaining our commitment to Soneva’s brand values, sustainability, and culture. The launch of our new headquarters in Dubai marks another milestone, enabling us to expand our reach and deliver long-term value.”
Founded in 1995, Soneva is renowned for its ultra-luxury resorts that blend sustainability with bespoke experiences. The leadership expansion and Dubai opening signal the brand’s ambitions for its next phase of global growth.
