Several Measures Taken to Enhance Ease of Travel for Passengers
New Delhi, August 9, 2023: India’s aviation sector continues to flourish, with remarkable growth rates propelling it to become one of the world’s fastest-growing markets. The country presently boasts 30 international airports, welcoming millions of passengers annually. As the third-largest domestic aviation market, initiatives to improve travel ease and experience have been a top priority.
The government’s commitment to enhancing passenger journeys is evident through various strategic measures. Capacity expansion, infrastructural improvements, and heightened security measures have been implemented across key airports. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), airlines, and airport operators have cooperated to deploy additional personnel and resources, ensuring a seamless travel experience.
To harness the power of technology, the government has introduced the Digi Yatra initiative, which utilizes Facial Recognition Technology for biometric-based travel. This groundbreaking program has been inaugurated at Delhi, Bangalore, Varanasi, Kolkata, Pune, Vijayawada, and Hyderabad Airports. The initial phase focuses on simplifying and streamlining air travel procedures for passengers.
As the aviation sector’s growth necessitates continuous upgrades, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) and private airport operators are committed to expansive infrastructural developments. With a combined Capex Plan exceeding Rs. 98,000 crores, these investments aim to modernize existing terminals, create new greenfield airports, and cater to the burgeoning passenger demands. The Ministry of Civil Aviation’s Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) – UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagarik) has further propelled regional air connectivity, making air travel affordable and accessible to a wider audience.
The significance of India’s aviation growth goes beyond statistics. The industry’s transformation is an emblem of progress, connecting people and places like never before. With continuous innovations and investments, India’s skies are poised for a future where air travel is safer, more comfortable, and customer-centric.
