The Sacramento Kings and Visit California showcased their global presence in India through a series of youth-focused community events and BUDX NBA House participation. The two organizations, representing the Golden State and its capital city, collaborated to support the growing game as it comes to New Delhi.  Building on the Sacramento Kings historic 2019 visit to Mumbai, when the team played the first NBA game in India, the activations reinforce the franchise’s long-term commitment to growing the game and building meaningful connections across the region.

Throughout the week, the Kings and Visit California engaged directly with local communities in New Delhi through events designed to inspire and connect with the next generation of players and fans. On May 8, the Kings and Visit California teamed up to support a community-driven basketball experience at BSES Basketball Academy. Led by basketball organizers and content creators Lionel Ngotchi Kab (@liobhaisaab), Dhruv Barman (@druvsushilbarman) & Jai Sachdeva (@Nolooknationind) the Park Takeover welcomed approximately 200 attendees, including youth athletes and key voices from India’s growing basketball community. The event featured influencer-led games, skills challenges, and interactive fan experiences, while the Sacramento Kings Dancers and Slamson energized the crowd with live entertainment. Giveaways and on-court activations further enhanced the atmosphere, reinforcing the event’s focus on accessibility, engagement, and community impact. The activation also highlighted the Academy’s mission to provide sustainable basketball development opportunities for underserved youth.

Earlier that day, the Kings participated in a youth-focused activation at the U.S. Embassy’s American Center, bringing together more than 150 students for a day of basketball programming, cultural exchange, and entertainment. The event featured a special appearance by Kings legend Vlade Divac alongside the Kings entertainment team, highlighting the power of sports to foster global connection.

In addition to community outreach, the Kings and Visit California participated in BUDX NBA House India for the second consecutive year. The team’s entertainment group energized fans through live performances and interactive moments, while Divac served as an honorary co-captain in the celebrity game and interacted with fans. Together, these appearances reinforced the Kings role as active contributors to the NBA’s global growth efforts.

In India, Visit California continues to strengthen its presence, inspiring Indian travellers to explore the state’s diverse experiences and deepening cultural ties through sports, entertainment, and tourism. As a year-round destination, California offers an unmatched variety of landscapes, from coastal drives and wine country to theme parks, outdoor adventures, and a vibrant farm-to-table culinary scene, making it a unique holiday destination with endless opportunities for exploration.

Caroline Beteta, President & CEO of Visit California, also shared, “As the Ultimate Playground, California offers an unmatched blend of sports, entertainment and lifestyle. Visit California’s partnership with the Sacramento Kings and NBA India is an exciting way to showcase that spirit while strengthening our connection with India’s vibrant and growing community of basketball and travel enthusiasts.”

Off the court, the organizations convened leaders across sports, business, and tourism for an evening reception. The event, titled “An Evening of Connection: Sports, Culture & Conversation,” explored the intersection of sports, innovation, and storytelling, while showcasing California as a global hub for creativity and opportunity.

With a unique cultural connection to India through team owner Vivek Ranadivé, the first Indian-born owner in NBA history, the Kings continue to demonstrate their commitment to long-term investment in the country’s basketball ecosystem by supporting youth development initiatives, fostering community connections, and building strategic partnerships that drive lasting impact.
