Barely 30 minutes from the railway station of Balasore , Orissa one can find a nature’s wonder along the eastern coast of India. Chandipur sea beach is also an answer to those who , sometimes , think Sea sides are mostly all the same , more or less.

But, as they say, a traveler must feel and live all the angles and perspectives of the place he is travelling and not one particular aspect only, once cannot really enjoy this part of the world without exploring the nearby tribal villages surrounded by green trees, river beds , dense forests .
A one hour drive from the Chandipur sea beach would take you to the picturesque village called Panchlingswar . The clean air, simple village folks and chirping birds would immediately lighten the hearts, far away from the stress of the city.

    Roopark Village

ECO-friendly THEME village resort ‘Roopark Village’ situated at Kantabonia, touching Kuldiha / Tenda Elephant Reserve forest (28km from Balasore Railway Station). Studded with the most ethnic abodes. The resort cab picked us right from the railway station.
We were pleasantly surprised by the traditional warm welcome with drum and a glass of soothing fruit juice on reaching the entrance of the resort. The ethical construction and make up would make it almost impossible to differentiate the resort campus from the other tribal houses in the area. But, once inside, we immediately fall in love with the cute and yet aesthetically built environment. Ms Rupa Banerjee and her co-partners had not left any stone un-turned to create a tourist friendly eco-resort with a perfect artistic blend of all basic modern facilities along with the touch of local craftsmanship everywhere you look. Cottages are made of wood and natural materials offering an authentic traditional look. The staff will organize a trek down the village road , elephant corridor to the local water body –an absolute treat to satisfy the sense of adventure in your heart. The evenings at Roopark would ensure a memory to treasure forever. As the moon rises beyond the Nilgiri, the trial women dance to the tune of the drums circling the camp fire arranged at the open area. We went to sleep that night mesmerized by the rhythmic of the Saotal-music mixed with the scent of mohua.

    Back to Chnandipur :

The sea beach is not only unique, it has its own charm. As we reached there little after noon, the sea water receded up to as much as five kilometer leaving behind an enormous land of wet sands all around. As we walked right on the sand listening to the sound of waves all around us , an indescribable feeling of anticipation, fear and happiness gripped us , all at the same time. Within an hour as the sun moves towards the horizon the entire area turned into golden colour . We were indeed transported to the ‘land of gold ‘from the pages of fantasy novels.
