London, May 6, 2025: Preferred Hotels & Resorts has solidified its global footprint with the addition of 19 new member hotels in the first quarter of 2025. The additions are spread across 12 countries and feature luxury retreats, historic conversions, and wellness-oriented resorts in Europe, the Americas, and Asia.

Strategic Global Expansion in 12 Countries

The additions include four continents, with significant growth in Europe (6 properties), the Americas (7 properties), and Asia (2 properties). This further solidifies Preferred’s positioning as a global hospitality brand while sustaining its emphasis on independent luxury properties.

Diverse Portfolio Enhancements Across All Collections

Among the standout additions is Andronis Luxury Suites in Santorini, Greece, which is a Legend Collection property. The cliffside resort, which will finish a significant renovation in May 2025, has private infinity pools and Aegean Sea views. In the United States, Boar’s Head Resort in Charlottesville, Virginia, combines Southern heritage with outdoor adventure, with falconry, an 18-hole golf course, and a restored 19th-century mansion opening as a boutique hotel later this year.

The new properties comprise all five of Preferred’s unique collections:

    • Legend Collection: Including Andronis Luxury Suites (Greece) and The Cooper (South Carolina)
    • L.V.X. Collection: With Boar’s Head Resort (Virginia) and Opera Hotel Bosphorus (Turkey)
    • Lifestyle Collection: Such as NÓR Hotel & Spa (Brazil) and Hotel Granados 83 (Spain)

    Historic Properties Get New Life

New to Europe are Hotel Convent de la Missio, a 17th-century convent converted into an adults-only boutique hotel in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. The property boasts a solarium on its rooftop and Mediterranean restaurant by Michelin-starred chef Marc Fosh. Back in Brazil, NÓR Hotels & Spa offers a hidden wellness getaway near São Paulo with minimalist Nordic-styled suites and vineyard visits to nearby wine country.

A number of new members highlight impressive adaptive reuse projects:

    • A 17th-century Mallorcan convent reborn as Hotel Convent de la Missio
    • Birdwood Mansion (Virginia), a 19th-century estate reborn as a boutique hotel
    • Lucerne’s fairytale Hotel Château Gütsch, which dates back to 1888

In Asia, The Archipelago in Yilan, Taiwan, is a beachside retreat with thermal spring amenities and Oceanview balconies. New members also include Armani Hotel Milano in Italy, Las Brisas Merida in Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, and PGA National Resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

Experiential and Wellness Travel Steal the Limelight

    • New openings prioritize luxury experiences:
    • NÓR Hotel & Spa’s Nordic wellness retreat
    • Taiwan’s The Archipelago thermal spring facilities
    • Das Edelweiss Salzburg Mountain Resort’s Austrian alpine spa

For travellers: The expansion translates into more unique choices at all price points and travel styles.
For the industry: It indicates sustained faith in the recovery and growth prospects of the luxury independent hotel sector.

Preferred Hotels & Resorts CEO Lindsey Ueberroth stated the growth aligns with the brand’s dedication to varied luxury experiences. The new hotels are part of an international chain of more than 600 independent hotels in five collections, offering various traveler tastes, ranging from historic landmarks to modern design-led stays.
