Helsinki, October 15, 2024: The Helsinki Airport saw a significant expansion of services when Strawberry opened a new hotel complex with an indoor connection to the terminal building in June 2024. The building houses both Clarion Hotel Helsinki Airport and Comfort Hotel Helsinki Airport, substantially increasing the area’s accommodation and event space capacity. The newly opened hotel complex is the largest in Finland.
Strawberry believes in Finland’s appeal as a travel destination and sees its strengths as an extensive growth potential.
“We’ve previously experienced strong growth in Norway and Sweden, and now our focus is firmly on Finland,” says Petter Stordalen, founder and owner of Strawberry. “There is ample room for expanding both accommodation and especially event space capacity in Finland. The country is attracting tourists, and compared to many other destinations, the cooler Nordic climate represents a significant tourism potential, particularly in the future.”
Premium Services And Plane Spotting From The Bedside
The complex’s hotels offer high-quality accommodation with two different concepts. Clarion Hotel Helsinki Airport combines high quality, modern elegance, and premium services, while Comfort Hotel Helsinki Airport offers a more relaxed product.

In addition to quality accommodation, Clarion Hotel Helsinki Airport includes an extensive range of other services: large event spaces, a 12th-floor à la carte restaurant, roof terrace, and a cocktail bar, an intimate spa with two different saunas and an outdoor jacuzzi. The building houses a total of 21 meeting and event spaces, the largest accommodating up to 1,050 people.
The hotel’s unique feature is its unobstructed views of the runway from the upper floors. Breathtaking vistas open up from some hotel rooms and suites, as well as from the rooftop bar and restaurant. However, the hotel rooms are fully soundproofed, ensuring that even the lightest sleepers aren’t disturbed by aircraft noise.
“The views are an aviation fan’s dream, but all our guests who appreciate premium service and fantastic amenities right next to the terminal building will enjoy their stay,” says Tarja Jeskanen, General Manager of Clarion Hotel Helsinki Airport. “Watching the runway views and planes taking off and landing is actually quite a meditative experience for anyone.”
Scalable Rooms To Accommodate Even Small Sports Teams
Comfort Hotels are known for their stylish urban decor and streamlined service level, allowing for a slightly more affordable price point. However, the quality of hotel rooms or beds has not been compromised.
The hotel’s streamlined service level is communicated through the Barception, a combination of reception and bar, which alongside staff offers digital check-in and check-out, and self-service laundry facilities in the Laundromat and Ironing room, which assist guests and complement the service experience.
The hotel’s specialty is its rooms that scale to different needs – there are rooms of various sizes for solo travellers and even families or groups of up to eight people.
“It’s also great that we can flexibly serve groups of very different sizes thanks to our scalable room sizes. A solo traveller pays only for a single person, and on the other hand, even a family of eight or a small sports team can fit in the same room,” says Jenni Javanainen, General Manager of Comfort Hotel Helsinki Airport.
Comfort also offers hotel rooms with stunning views of the runway.
“Especially our child guests have embraced these rooms wholeheartedly. Some rooms also have bunk beds, where everyone can lounge in their own bed and drift off to sleep right next to the runway, but in complete silence,” Javanainen concludes.
