Piccadily Unveils Indri Founder’s Reserve 11-Year-Old Single Malt Whisky in Limited Global Release
Piccadily Agro Industries Limited, which makes Indian single malt brand Indri, has released its new expression, the Indri Founder’s Reserve 11-Year-Old Single Malt Whisky. The limited release, aged only in ex-Bordeaux red wine casks, comes as a salute to the late founder of the company, Pt. Kidar Nath Sharma.
Production and Maturation
The whisky was aged and distilled at Piccadily’s northern Indian facility, where extreme temperature fluctuations between 0°C in winter and 50°C in summer are said to speed up the aging process. The firm asserts that such conditions allow for a greater interaction between spirit and oak, yielding more intense extraction of flavors in a shorter span than in temperate climates.
Bottled at 50% ABV for the Indian market and a cask-strength 58.5% ABV for export markets, the expression is said to have a profile of dark fruits, baking spices, and vanilla, with a wine-influenced finish. A total of 1,100 bottles have been made, with an equal split planned between Indian and foreign markets.
Industry Recognition
Before its formal launch, the whisky won several awards at international competitions, including:
- World Whisky Awards 2025 – Gold (Single Malt 12 Years & Under category)
- San Francisco World Spirits Competition – Gold (90 points)
- International Whisky Competition – Ranked #8 in Top 15 Whiskies Worldwide, Best Indian Single Malt (95.09 points)
- Las Vegas Global Spirits Awards – Platinum (98 points)
- IWSC – Silver (92 points)
These accolades follow the success of previous Indri releases, which have gained visibility in global whisky circles in recent years.
The release coincides with increasing worldwide interest in Indian single malts as Indian makers compete more with established Scotch and Japanese players on home turf. Industry insiders comment that Indian distilleries are using the nation’s distinctive climate as a way of differentiation in maturation processes.
Shalini Sharma, Head of Marketing at Piccadily Agro Industries Limited, said, “This release is another step towards India’s emergence as a credible player in premium whisky-making.” Pricing has not been revealed by the company but availability has been confirmed through selected retailers and luxury hospitality establishments.
With international whisky collectors demonstrating greater demand for limited Indian releases, Founder’s Reserve 11-Year-Old joins a competitive but growing category. Its limited production run and award pedigree might affect secondary market demand among collectors.
