In a world where sustainability is no longer a matter of choice but a necessity, PBP EcoAqua is carving a pioneering path in eco-friendly water solutions for the hospitality industry and beyond. Founded by P.B. Prasad—a seasoned expert in office automation turned passionate environmental entrepreneur—the company is reshaping how hotels, corporates, and institutions tackle the massive issue of single-use plastic bottles.
From Office Automation to Environmental Innovation
Prasad’s career shift was anything but ordinary. Immersed in the technology-driven world of office automation, he never envisioned stepping into the water business. His journey took a decisive turn when leading hoteliers brought a staggering statistic to his attention: India’s hospitality sector churns out nearly five million plastic bottles annually, with the majority ending up polluting our oceans.
While sustainability sounded noble, industry leaders questioned its practicality—until Prasad spotted an opportunity that balanced environmental impact with commercial feasibility.
“I was told: ‘If you can make something for ₹100, why can’t you make it for ₹1?’ We just had to shrink the technology.”

Shrinking Industrial Tech for On-Site Use
Leveraging the bottling systems used by giants such as Aquafina and Himalaya, PBP EcoAqua miniaturized the industrial process for on-site hotel installation. These compact, high-efficiency systems allow properties to purify and bottle their own water in reusable glass bottles—each capable of 200–300 use cycles—at a fraction of conventional costs.
But innovation alone wasn’t enough. To ensure consistent hygiene and product quality, Prasad made a critical decision: PBP EcoAqua doesn’t just sell the equipment—they operate and maintain it themselves. “We run it ourselves. Because consistency, hygiene, and quality aren’t optional—they’re non-negotiable.”
Overcoming Real-World Challenges
Rolling out this revolutionary system wasn’t without obstacles:
1. Space Constraints – Equipment was often installed in tight corners, laundry rooms, or even repurposed bathrooms.
2. Logistics – Staff had to adapt to handling heavier, breakable glass bottles instead of disposable plastics.
3. Quality Assurance – Purity standards had to be met for every drop, whether in a budget hotel or a luxury resort.
Despite these hurdles, PBP EcoAqua is now a trusted partner for some of India’s biggest hospitality names, earning recognition as the country’s second-largest sustainable water solutions provider.
Global Expansion with Local Sensitivity
Breaking into new markets demands agility and respect for local regulations. In India, it can take up to nine months to secure all required approvals—from BIS and FSSAI to local water sourcing clearances. By contrast, markets in the Middle East and Southeast Asia grant faster access but enforce stricter compliance guidelines.
Already operational in Sri Lanka, PBP EcoAqua is preparing for a UAE launch this January via partnership with Bio Hydro. Systems are also headed to Kenya, serving luxury lodges in Nairobi and the Masai Mara. Future destinations include the Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand, while Singapore remains less feasible due to unique consumption habits.
Beyond Hotels: Innovation for Corporates & Events
Expanding beyond hospitality, PBP EcoAqua is providing sustainable solutions for corporate campuses like the Murugappa Group and bringing innovations to banquet services—such as UV-sanitized dispensers and compostable paper cups—addressing the impracticality of glass in large gatherings.
Prasad is clear about his mission: environmental commitment must come before cost-cutting.
“We walk away from deals where clients only care about cost, not commitment. Sustainability isn’t a checkbox—it’s a responsibility.”
People and Planet
Beyond its environmental impact, PBP EcoAqua contributes to 200 livelihoods through training and employment, proving that the path to sustainability can and should integrate social responsibility.
Looking Ahead
With India’s hospitality sector growing at 14–15% annually and demand for sustainable solutions rising worldwide, Prasad believes the future is full of possibilities. But he remains grounded in the company’s guiding principles—Passion, Belief, Balance, and Precision.
“It’s a game of patience and passion. And we’re just getting started—one drop at a time.”
