Kolkata, May 2025: Olive Café & Bar has officially opened its doors in Kolkata, bringing its signature Mediterranean charm and laid-back vibe to the City of Joy. Nestled on the 6th floor of 40, Shakespear Sarani, this new outpost combines a sun-dappled courtyard, an elegant verandah, and a vibrant bar to create a warm and inviting space that celebrates good food, culture, and conversations.

Designed by Sabina Singh, Design Director at Olive Group, and architect Vivek Popli, the café draws inspiration from Rabindranath Tagore’s Shantiniketan and Kolkata’s rich cultural heritage. A striking bamboo-roofed courtyard serves as the focal point, blending sustainability with artistic elegance. Lush greenery, cascading bougainvillea, and dreamy candle-lit evenings add to the enchanting ambiance.

The menu, curated by Chef Jyotika Malik, features global comfort food with Mediterranean flair, including small plates, award-winning pizzas, live grills, and Kolkata-inspired dishes like Bekti en Papillotte and banana flower salad. Signature cocktails by lead mixologist Harish Chhimwal highlight local flavors, such as the “Mishti Joy” and “Yellow Taxi,” blending tradition with innovation.

AD Singh, Founder & MD of Olive Group, expressed excitement about the launch, saying, “Olive is more than a restaurant—it’s an experience. We’re thrilled to bring our passion for great food, drinks, and service to Kolkata.”

With its unique fusion of Mediterranean aesthetics and Kolkata’s cultural soul, Olive Café & Bar promises to be a must-visit destination for leisurely lunches, romantic dinners, and lively gatherings.
