If you’re someone who’s an avid trekker, willing to give your legs a quick preparation, who is looking to get lost from the common every-other-tour-guide travel without having to go beyond the 500 km barrier, then you’re up for a treat in Chakrata. If you’re constantly worried about the changing landscapes and are a travelller, or group, looking to cut off the city noise, then the Kanasar jungles can be your perfect companion in Uttarakhand.

Koti Kanasar, Uttarakhand Barely a 7-hour drive (take an hour or two extra based on stoppages) from Delhi, Koti Kanasar is a serene and yet to be a found-out destination for camping, trekking, and a perfect holiday experience. If you’re familiar with Dehradun, then let’s just say you are only a couple of hours away from this place called Chakrata. The tourist destination leads further to smaller and denser jungle terrains, which is known as the Kanasar region. There the road ends and the trails begin. Barring Jio (a very sparse network) there are not many networks beyond Chakrata. Apart from a special force, known as the Chakrata Unit of the Indian Army, guarding the ends of this place – there are tons of scenic trails, sunset points, and adventure-activity points that are accessible to tourists. But What If You’re Not A Tourist?

If you aim at closely observing the terrain, the cute little lady-bugs, the never-visible-in-cities flora and fauna and believe in the magic healing of your mind and soul when in the jungles then your aim should be to stay for a night in Chakrata and keep your remaining days, and nights, for Koti Kanasar. You can book your stay at a forest resort-based miles inside the actual jungle –named Green Canvas. Their lodging wooden huts can accommodate up to 10 people and are fitted with all the basic amenities that you may worry about. A geyser, English toilets, a staircase that takes you to the cabinet structures above, and all that you may forget while you gaze at the mountains at the very opposite end of your room. The window, a bare minimum between you and your comfy bed, gets you the best view in the entire Kanasar district. Well, to be honest, there are very few people to worry about and no cottage, resort, hotel,or residency around you – miles! No kidding!

    The Costing

Taking out, the sky-rocketing, the fuel prices – there’s very little to worry about. The rooms are for 2800/night per person and this includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner – hearties meals cooked by the ever-friendly staff led by Vikram, a great friend and philosopher who owns these magical lands. If you’re lucky enough you can get them to fetch wholesome veg momo (hilly momo has a different vibe), which serves as the right appetisers to sip with chilled drinks.

Best Bet Away From The City

A 3-day, 4-day or even a 10-day stay at the Green Canvas Resort in Kanasar can heal your mind, body, and soul – and there’s no challenge to this fact. You can bet! You can accompany your pets who will be happily attended to by the two guard doggos – the mighty Sheru and the tiny Sheri! They’re too adorable.
