New species of cascade frog discovered
A group of scientists from the Wildlife institute of India (WII) , Dehradun and noted wildlife photographer Dhritiman Mukherjee have discovered a new species of cascade frog from the Siang River Valley of Arunachal pradesh.
The medium size frog was named Amolops adicola’ after the ‘Adi tribe of that region. “We discovered this new species of cascade frog during our Abor Expedition in Arunachal Pradesh, in 2018. A team of five scientists from WII and I spent over a month exploring and documenting the biodiversity of the region.Great work Dr Abhijit Das Abhijit Das and other scientists! A big thanks to WII , Hemchand Mahindra Foundation, Arunachal Forest Department and Saevus Wildlife India LLP” says Dritiman in a social media statement.
