For travellers seeking to walk through the landscapes of the Bible and explore the deep roots of ancient history, a journey to Judea and Samaria is an unforgettable experience. Now, experiencing this historic region is about to become more immersive than ever. The Israeli government, led by Tourism Minister- Haim Katz, has officially approved a groundbreaking 27 million ILS (7.3 million USD) initiative designed to accelerate the construction of brand-new hotels and hospitality accommodations throughout Judea and Samaria.

This historic decision aims to solve a long-standing challenge for international visitors. While the region boasts spectacular ancient heritage sites, breathtaking desert vistas, and boutique wineries, a shortage of overnight lodging has historically meant that tourists could only visit for brief day trips. By eliminating bureaucratic planning hurdles and offering major financial grants to hotel developers, this new initiative is set to build a vibrant infrastructure of hotels, bed-and-breakfasts, and eco-lodges. Travelers will soon be able to take their time, unpack their bags, and enjoy multi-day journeys through the heart of the region.

The funding structure is meticulously designed to bring these hospitality projects to life quickly and efficiently. The Ministry of Tourism is investing 7 million ILS into immediate zoning and land development, paving the way for beautiful new tourist accommodations. In addition, a massive 20 million ILS has been dedicated strictly to administrative grants for entrepreneurs. Developers looking to build, expand, or convert existing properties into tourist accommodations will receive financial grants covering up to 28% of their total investment, drastically lowering the barrier to entry for luxury and boutique hospitality brands.

This initiative represents a massive upgrade for the region’s tourism economy, which has previously seen far less development compared to Israel’s bustling coastal cities. Tourism Minister Haim Katz emphasized that this comprehensive plan creates total certainty for developers while laying down the foundation to welcome an influx of global travellers. By extending the time tourists spend in the area, the project aims to turn Judea and Samaria into a premier stay-and-holiday destination, enriching the travel experience and strengthening the local community.

This exciting accommodation push is the second major tourism boost for the region. It directly complements a previous 50 million ILS initiative passed by the government to upgrade public tourist sites, hiking trails, and historical landmarks. For international tourists planning their future trips to Israel, Judea and Samaria is fast evolving into a must-visit destination where ancient history meets modern, world-class hospitality.
