Moustache Group of Hotels has announced the launch of Moustache Hostel Lonavala in Malavli, strengthening its presence in one of western India’s most popular leisure and adventure travel destinations.

Located near the base of Lohagad Fort, the new property caters to the growing demand for experiential and community-led travel among young travellers, backpackers and weekend tourists from Mumbai and Pune. The hostel offers direct access to some of the region’s most sought-after attractions, including Lohagad Fort, Visapur Fort, Karla Caves, Bhaja Caves and Pavana Lake.

Designed to reflect the cultural and historical character of the region, the property incorporates visual elements inspired by Maharashtra’s Maratha heritage. Murals, interiors and architectural details draw from the landscape and legacy associated with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, creating a stay experience rooted in local identity.

Situated less than a kilometre from Malavli railway station and approximately 8.7 km from Lonavala town, the hostel benefits from strong connectivity to both Mumbai and Pune, making it an accessible base for short-break and adventure travellers.

“Lonavala continues to be one of Maharashtra’s most visited leisure destinations, but Malavli offers a more immersive connection to the region’s forts, trails and history,” said Abhishek Khandelwal, Co-Founder and Director, Moustache Group of Hotels. “With this property, we wanted to create a hostel that feels connected to its surroundings while delivering the social and community-driven experience that Moustache is known for.”

The property comprises 10 rooms across multiple accommodation formats, including private rooms and shared dormitories. Room categories include Deluxe Room, Deluxe Room with Balcony, Superior Quad Room, and dormitory options in 4-bed, 6-bed and 8-bed configurations.

The launch aligns with Moustache Group of Hotels’ strategy of expanding across high-potential leisure destinations that combine cultural relevance, outdoor experiences and strong domestic travel demand. With its location at the heart of the Lohagad adventure belt, Moustache Hostel Lonavala aims to serve as a gateway for travellers seeking a mix of history, nature, trekking and community-led experiences.

As domestic travel continues to shift towards shorter, experience-driven getaways, the company sees growing opportunities in destinations that offer both accessibility and a strong sense of place. The Malavli property marks another step in Moustache Group of Hotels’ efforts to build distinctive stays across India’s emerging travel circuits.
