Ministry of Tourism Announces Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav & Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat Food Festival in New Delhi
New Delhi, August 18, 2023: The Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with various State Governments and Union Territories (UTs), is gearing up to host the grand “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav & Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat Food Festival” in the capital city from August 18th to 20th, 2023.
This exciting three-day festival is designed to be a celebration of India’s vibrant culinary diversity, with the spotlight on state-specific cuisines. The event aims to foster awareness and appreciation for the unique gastronomic offerings from each region, while simultaneously fostering a sense of unity and togetherness among attendees.
Enthusiastic participation has been confirmed from 23 States and UTs, with the Food Festival, set to take place in the State Sadans/Bhawans of the participating States across New Delhi. States such as Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Gujarat, Assam, Mizoram, Jammu and Kashmir, West Bengal, Punjab, Arunachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Meghalaya, Karnataka, Chattisgarh, Nagaland, and more are all actively participating. Several of these states will also showcase their local handicrafts alongside the culinary extravaganza within their respective State Bhawans.
The event serves as a platform to further the concept of “Dekho Apna Desh,” a successful initiative by the Ministry of Tourism that encourages citizens to explore the hidden gems of their own country. The festival’s overarching goal is to promote domestic tourism while nurturing a sense of pride in India’s rich heritage.
Notably, the Food Festival holds a dual significance: it not only celebrates India’s cultural and historical wealth but also pays homage to the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and embodies the spirit of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat. The Ministry of Tourism, State Governments, and various stakeholders have united their efforts to ensure the resounding success of this enriching and unifying experience.
