Madhya Pradesh Aims for Even Greater Heights in the year 2025
Madhya Pradesh, January 2025: Madhya Pradesh is all set to take its tourism industry to new heights in 2025, with a diverse range of initiatives aimed at positioning the state as a premier global destination. The state’s tourism plans focus on areas such as cruise, wellness, medical, textile, and rural tourism, along with efforts to enhance connectivity and promote sustainable tourism practices.
One of the standout projects is the launch of India’s first inter-state cruise route, connecting Meghnath Ghat (Kukshi) and Sakarja in Madhya Pradesh with Hafeshwar and Mokhadi in Gujarat. A state-of-the-art solar-powered terminal will also be built in Sakarja to provide excellent connectivity. Additionally, the state will introduce new TVCs featuring international sitar virtuoso Anoushka Shankar to boost international appeal and is creating immersive 360-degree VR videos and digital tours for prospective travelers.
Madhya Pradesh is also expanding its cultural and heritage tourism initiatives, including the pursuit of UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage status for local traditions like the Bhagoria dance and Gond painting. New air routes under PM Shri Paryatan Vayu Seva will connect key cities like Bhopal, Jabalpur, and Khajuraho. The state is investing ₹100 crore in a world-class convention center in Bhopal to attract global events.
Rural tourism will see the launch of 350 homestays under the Rural Tourism Mission, and textile tourism is being promoted with the development of ‘Craft Handloom Tourism Villages’ in Maheshwar and Unchehra. Adventure tourism continues to grow with the Skydiving Festival and the introduction of aero-sports in Ujjain.
In 2024, the state’s tourism achievements were recognized with the ‘Best Tourism State of the Year’ award, cementing Madhya Pradesh’s place as a top destination in India.
