Kia India has introduced the Model Year 2026 (MY26) edition of the Kia Sonet, expanding the SUV’s automatic line-up with new variants across Diesel Automatic powertrains and Turbo Petrol 7DCT. Priced from ₹ 9,77,900 lakh and ₹ 9,89,900 lakh respectively (ex-showroom), the MY26 Sonet makes both technologies accessible under ₹10 lakh, further strengthening its appeal in one of India’s fast-growing and highly competitive compact SUV categories.

As traffic density continues to rise across cities, more customers are opting for automatic vehicles that offer greater comfort, reduced driving fatigue, and improved everyday drivability. Recognizing this shift, Kia has expanded Sonet’s automatic portfolio—already among the widest in the segment—by making automatic driving accessible across a wider range of trims, bringing its convenience within reach of more customers than ever before. The 1.5-litre Diesel 6-speed Automatic is now available across HTE(O), HTK(O), HTK+, and HTK+(O) variants, alongside 1.0-litre Turbo Petrol 7DCT options in HTK(O) and HTK+(O).

With this expansion, Sonet also addresses a key gap in the segment by offering automatic technology at a highly competitive price point, while becoming the first SUV in its segment to offer both 6AT and 7DCT below ₹10 lakh, further strengthening accessibility to automatic ownership.

The introduction of diesel automatic variants also responds to customers seeking the frugality and efficiency of diesel engines paired with the convenience of an automatic transmission, enabling a more relaxed driving experience for both urban commutes and highway journeys.

“We have been closely listening to evolving customer needs, particularly the growing preference for the convenience of automatic driving in everyday conditions. With the model year 2026 update, we are expanding our automatic line-up with Diesel Automatic and Turbo Petrol 7DCT options at highly competitive price points, enabling more customers to experience the ease of automatic mobility while further strengthening Sonet’s leadership in the segment,” said Atul Sood, Senior Vice-President, Sales & Marketing, Kia India.

Launched in 2020, the Kia Sonet has established itself as one of the best-selling models in India’s compact SUV segment, recently crossing the 5-lakh sales milestone, reflecting strong customer trust in the brand and continues to be a key growth driver in the market.

The Sonet is available across multiple trims with five powertrain options, combining bold design, advanced technology and a feature-rich cabin that continues to set benchmarks in the segment. It comes equipped with 15 robust standard safety features, 10 ADAS Level 1 features, and 70+ connected-car features.

Further enhancing the Sonet’s appeal, Kia has also introduced Magma Red, a vibrant new exterior colour that complements the SUV’s bold and youthful design.
