HK Tourism Board in association with WKCD is all set to bring back the magic of christmas

As winter approaches, one can’t help but notice the build-up of seasonal festivities! Teaming up with the venue partner, West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD), the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) is bringing back the signature high-rise Christmas Tree and Christmas Town – to the WKCD Art Park for the first time – as an extension of the “Hong Kong Neighbourhood” – “West Kowloon” promotion. The 20-metre Christmas was lit on 26 November. Be prepared to be transported into this romantic photo spot of glittering festive lights and life-like decorations, and start off your festive season in this not-to-be-missed winter hangout.

HKTB Executive Director Mr Dane Cheng said that every year many visitors choose Hong Kong as their top destination of their winter holidays, “Every year, the HKTB’s soaring Christmas Tree is a photo hot spot for both locals and visitors. As M+ opens, this year the HKTB brings the signature Christmas Tree to the WKCD for the first time to attract more visitors to both the art and culture landmark and the European Christmas Town to experience the heart-warming festivities in this otherwise chilly season. Although visitors cannot visit Hong Kong for the time being, the HKTB continues to present Hong Kong’s city-wide festive light decos and exciting seasonal happenings through the campaign website, sharing Hong Kong’s richly festive vibes with audiences around the world.”

The soaring Christmas Tree measures about 20 metres high, over 6 storeys. With festive music and lighting effects, the Tree will light up the Victoria Harbour skyline with coziness in the otherwise chilly season.

Highlights of Hong Kong Winter Fest’s Christmas Town

    • Overlooked by soaring Christmas tree and surrounded by the festive Santa Lodges and decos, this year’s Christmas Town is designed after the fantasy town of Colmar, France, which also inspired Howl’s Moving Castle, a world-acclaimed animated picture directed by Hayao Miyazaki.
    • The outdoor Christmas Tree stands 20 metres high, more than 6 storeys. With festive music and lighting effects, the Tree will decorate the skyline of Victoria Harbour, making the scene a not-to-be-missed Christmas checkpoint.
    • There will be 8 Santa Lodges in Christmas Town surrounded by small Christmas trees, golden reindeers and antique lampposts, offering a European Christmas experience to visitors.
Inspired by the city of fairy tales, Colmar, France, the Christmas Town and the 8 Santa Lodges brim with European Christmas vibes. Get together with family and friends and create your own photo memories together!
