Indulging In The Soul of South at Sambar Soul
Yes, the miracle did happen, indeed.
Behold, the fantastical tale of an adventurous non-vegetarian (yours truly!) embarking on a 30 km journey on a lazy Saturday for the unimaginable feat of devouring a pure vegetarian lunch at a pure vegetarian restaurant. Can you believe it? It’s like catching a unicorn eating tofu!
But wait, there’s more to this astonishing tale. Not only did I venture into the realm of leafy greens and veggie delights, but I emerged from the experience with a smile on my face and a satisfied soul (and, of course, a happy stomach). How, you ask? Fear not, for the answers to these enigmas are not as elusive as a vegetarian Bigfoot.
Firstly, I must confess that this seemingly preposterous undertaking was a work-related assignment. Specifically, due to the consortium of the prestigious house of Gola Sizzlers, a brand that needs no introduction in the food and beverage circle of Delhi NCR, today. Secondly, the reason for my enchantment and bliss boils down to the all-encompassing dining experience offered by this vegetarian haven called SAMBER SOUL.
Stepping into the Sambar Soul, a sense of a comfortable and casual dining atmosphere surrounded me instantly. The interior was thoughtfully decorated, reflecting the traditional Southern senses, while also incorporating the trademark brand colour and appearance of the parent house. The soothing background music in the restaurant added to the overall calm and relaxed ambiance, which was a sharp contrast to the bustling Pacific Mall in the heart of West Delhi.
For me, Sambar Soul was a celebration of simplicity. Everything, from the menu to the ambience and service, exuded a sense of lucidity and authenticity. The goal of the restaurant was clear – to offer an experience of traditional and authentic South Indian cuisine to its patrons. And they succeeded brilliantly.
The menu at Sambar Soul boasted a wide array of options, ranging from the crisp and flavourful dosas to the soft and fluffy idlis. For those craving a bit more spice and heat, there were fiery Chettinad curries to satisfy their palates. And, of course, no South Indian meal would be complete without a steaming cup of hot filter coffee. The menu truly catered to all tastes and preferences.
However, the true showstopper for me was the South Indian Thali. As the plate was placed before me, I couldn’t help but marvel at its beauty and size. It was a generously portioned platter, accompanied by smaller utensils. The thali consisted of several varieties of vegetables, each cooked with incredible taste and authentic Southern flavours. The sambar, in particular, was a true standout, perfectly complementing the other dishes on the plate.
To enhance my dining experience, the head chef, V Krishna Veni, graciously took the time to explain each item on the thali. Her passion and knowledge were evident in her descriptions, further enhancing my appreciation for the flavours and ingredients used in the dishes.
Finally, as I neared the end of my delectable lunch at Sambar Soul, I could not resist indulging in a cup of their unparalleled filter coffee. Sipping the rich, aromatic brew was the perfect way to conclude my meal. It left me feeling content and satisfied, with the lingering taste of South India on my tongue.
If you find yourself yearning for an authentic and simple taste of South India, Sambar Soul is a place you simply cannot afford to miss. Its commitment to simplicity, authenticity, and taste truly sets it apart from the plethora of dining options in the area. Whether you are a connoisseur of South Indian cuisine or simply looking to explore new flavours, Sambar Soul is a culinary destination that promises to deliver an unforgettable dining experience for your taste buds.
