IHCL Marks Debut in Jorhat, Assam with the Signing of a Ginger Hotel
Mumbai, August 4, 2023: Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced a significant milestone by signing its inaugural hotel in Jorhat, Assam, under the Ginger brand. This Greenfield project, executed under a fully fitted lease, underscores IHCL’s commitment to expanding its presence in North East India. The hotel’s design and services will align with Ginger’s lean luxe philosophy, promising a contemporary and seamless hospitality experience for its guests.
Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development at IHCL, expressed the company’s dedication to the North East Indian region, stating, “IHCL is very committed to North East India and has been expanding rapidly in the region. Jorhat, a thriving city, is an important centre for tea trading and the gateway to leading tourist destinations in Assam. We are delighted to partner with Mr. Kamal Jain for this Ginger hotel.”
Strategically located on Club Road, adjacent to the historic Jorhat Gymkhana – the third oldest golf club in the world – the 100-key hotel holds a prime position. Its proximity to the airport further enhances its accessibility. The hotel will reflect the distinctive Ginger experience, which prioritizes a vibrant ambiance and modern service standards. The Qmin, an all-day-diner renowned for its diverse culinary offerings, will be a notable feature of the hotel. Additionally, guests can avail themselves of the well-equipped fitness center and versatile meeting rooms.

Jorhat, often referred to as the cultural capital of Assam, holds significance as a hub for tea traders and golf enthusiasts in the North East. It serves as a pivotal transit point for visitors heading to the World Heritage Site of Majuli – the largest riverine island globally – and the renowned Kaziranga National Park.
With the inclusion of this upcoming hotel, IHCL’s footprint in Assam will expand to a total of five hotels, with three more currently in the developmental pipeline.
