The hotel groups at Parvati Valley in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh have decided to reopen the Hotels and restaurants from 15th September onwards.

Earlier, the Covid -19 Pandemic had forced the Hoteliers to close their operations completely in the area, resulting a huge loss of revenue from the tourism activities. The decision has come as an effort towards revitalize the sector after a long lull of six months. Also, the Hotel Association is planning to offer discounts as much as 50 percent on bookings to attract and motivate the tourists.

An official from the Kullu Hotel Association has confirmed that almost 300 home-stays and Hotels in the Parvati valley are all set to welcome tourists and have taken all precautions required to cope with the ‘ new normal ‘. The hotels will be following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the government. Tourists are also expected to carry COVID -19 negative reports for smooth accessibility in the region.

The Hotel Association has requested the state government to allow the easy access of the tourists to enter the state without any pass. They have added to their appeal to the state government to pan to re-start operating deluxe buses to Kullu-Manali from Chandigarh, Delhi Shimla and Dheradun to boost the tourism.

After a disaster in the sector the recent decision of reopening by the Hoteliers as well as the state and central government is, undoubtedly a morale booster for the hosts as well as the travellers across the country. However a big challenge would be to explain and motivate the locals to co-operate with the new environment and to communicate the real facts as against the unfortunate panic and myths created by the pandemic.
