Jashpur, Chhattisgarh – In a landmark step towards promoting sustainable tourism in Chhattisgarh, Homestays of India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jashpur District Administrationto transform the scenic Village Kere into a model community tourism hub.
The agreement was formally signed by Rohit Vyas, District Collector of Jashpur, and Vinod Verma, CEO of http://www.homestaysofindia.com, in the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and senior state dignitaries. This partnership is seen as a strategic move to position Jashpur as a premier eco-tourism destination while fostering inclusive, community-led development.
Under the initiative, Village Kere will be developed as the first organised homestay village in Jashpur, establishing a blueprint for rural tourism in the state. The project will engage local households, create sustainable livelihoods, and empower youth and women through skill development and entrepreneurship training. By integrating traditional customs and natural heritage into the tourism experience, the collaboration aims to safeguard Jashpur’s cultural identity while ensuring economic benefits remain within the community.
“This is a progressive step towards sustainable tourism,” said Vinod Verma. “We are committed to making Kere a benchmark village for responsible tourism in India—one that will inspire other regions to follow.”
With Chhattisgarh’s new homestay policy recently announced, the timing of the MoU reflects the state’s push to strengthen eco-tourism and spotlight lesser-known destinations. The project is expected to place Jashpur firmly on the national tourism map, offering visitors authentic cultural experiences amid pristine natural landscapes.
The development of Village Kere will not only boost tourism but also serve as a living example of how community participation, environmental conservation, and heritage preservation can go hand-in-hand in driving local prosperity.
