Haryana, October 10, 2023: In a significant development, Haryana, a state renowned for pioneering highway tourism in India during the 1970s, is gearing up to introduce 100 farm tourism centres. This initiative marks a noteworthy foray into the realm of farm tourism and is a testament to the state’s commitment to diversify its tourism offerings.
Neeraj Kumar, the Managing Director of Haryana Tourism Corporation, revealed that the state has made substantial progress in farm tourism since the government unveiled a comprehensive policy framework for it last year. Currently, around 40 farm tourism centres are registered in the state, with each district hosting its own center.
Talao village, situated in Jhajjar district of Haryana, recently achieved recognition by winning the bronze medal in the inaugural Best Tourism Village competition held this year. Additionally, Pratapgarh Farms in the same district gained prominence for hosting G20 delegates earlier in the year. These accomplishments underscore the state’s growing prominence in the field of farm tourism.
Kumar highlighted the state’s dedication to promoting farm tourism, emphasizing the impact of marketing, promotions, and outreach programs conducted by the department. He stated, “The state government revamped the farm tourism policy last year, and through effective marketing, promotions, and outreach programs, we have generated substantial interest in farm tourism. Today, we have farm tourism centres in all districts of the state.”
Kumar expressed optimism that the number of farm tourism centres in Haryana will continue to rise, reaching the milestone of 100 in the near future. This growth is expected to be driven by the increasing interest and enthusiasm among farm owners to participate in the burgeoning farm tourism sector.
