This captivating anthology features travel stories from top business leaders worldwide, giving readers a unique and insightful perspective on business travellers. Stefano in his introductory speech talked about his enthusiasm and optimism about the pleasure of reading a book, while quoting particularly about India as a nation with one of the highest book readers in the world.
The book’s launch was attended by a distinguished panel, including Member of Parliament and former diplomat Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Yashovardhan Azad (Retd), Chairman of DeepStrat and former Central Information Commissioner, and Anshuman Magazine, Chairman and CEO of CBRE for India, South-East Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. “Going Places” is a curated collection of diverse experiences shared by top executives from various backgrounds, from an Indian businessman to an American corporate lawyer and a Dutch manager. Each story offers unique insights, sometimes humorous and sometimes thought-provoking, on the authors’ professional and personal journeys.
According to the editors, Stefano Pelle and Gerhard Apfelthaler, the book’s idea was born during a virtual MBA course discussion at a US business school, where executives shared their recent travel anecdotes, resulting in a spirited discussion. Seeing the value in these stories, the editors decided to document them, giving birth to this engaging anthology.
“Going Places’ is not just a travelogue; it’s a captivating collection of diverse experiences shared by top executives from around the globe,” said Stefano Pelle, the book’s editor. “Our goal was to bring together different perspectives and offer readers both engaging and enlightening narratives, with an ironic touch that adds to the reading experience.”
The panel of distinguished guests praised the book for its unique approach, highlighting the valuable insights it provides into the world of executive travel, from the glamour of first and business-class cabins to the challenges of managing jet lag and balancing professional commitments with personal life.
“These narratives offer a comprehensive perspective on the executive travel lifestyle, highlighting its rewards and challenges,” said Dr. Shashi Tharoor.
“Being a part of this launch and this panel is truly fulfilling as it reveals the diverse experiences of global business travellers, offering valuable insights into both the glamour and challenges of executive travelling,” added Yashovardhan Azad (Retd.) while quoting his favourite lines from the book.
