Located on the foothills of the majestic Shivalik range, Haridwar is not just another city; it’s a sacred land that resonates with the eternal whispers of ancient traditions. Renowned as one of the seven holiest places in Hinduism, this city is the gateway to the mystical Kumaon and Garhwal Himalayas and the divine banks of the River Ganga. During my recent visit, I had the pleasure of staying at The Fern Residency, Haridwar—a gem that beautifully bridges the gap between the sacred and the modern.

    Arrival and Location

The Fern Residency boasts a prime location just outside the bustling city of Haridwar, making it an oasis of tranquillity amid the spiritual cacophony. It is readily accessible, lying a mere 15 minutes from the Haridwar Railway Station and about 45 minutes from Jolly Grant Airport. Surrounded by nature and the panoramic views of the Shivalik Hills, the hotel is a convenient base for both leisure and recreation, as well as for business travellers seeking a productive stay.

     Accommodations

Upon arrival, I was warmly welcomed by Mr Pawan Kumar, Operation Manager and the hotel staff, a trend that would continue throughout my stay. The Fern Residency features 55 well-furnished rooms across three categories, each thoughtfully designed to ensure guests relish their time in comfort and style. My room was a delightful blend of modern amenities, soothing decor, and a picturesque view of the surrounding hills, creating an inviting atmosphere that made it easy to unwind.

    Exceptional Hospitality

What truly sets The Fern Residency apart is the exceptional hospitality of its staff. From the reception to room service, the team exudes warmth, politeness, and an eagerness to assist. Their attentive nature created an environment that felt almost familial, making me and my family feel at home. Whether it was answering queries about local attractions or providing recommendations for activities, they consistently went above and beyond.

    Culinary Delights

The culinary experience at The Fern Residency far surpassed my expectations, especially given the vegetarian focus of the location. The Marigold Restaurant stands out with its spacious interiors and quiet ambience, perfect for enjoying meals. The kitchen team members- Suraj, Vaishali and others were extremely polite and supportive and ensured a diverse range of delicious dishes. Each meal was a delightful exploration of flavours, highlighting their commitment to high-quality, fresh ingredients while embracing the essence of local vegetarian cuisine.

    Amenities and Facilities

The hotel provides a myriad of amenities that cater to relaxation and recreation. The highlight for me was the third-floor swimming pool. The Banquet Hall and sprawling lawn make it an ideal venue for events, while an upcoming spa and gym centre promises even more options for relaxation and fitness.

    Sustainable Practices and Brand Legacy

During my stay, I had the opportunity to speak with Mr Pawan Kumar, who shared fascinating insights into The Fern Hotels group. Established in 1996 by Mr. Param Kannampilly under the banner of Concept Hospitality, the brand has expanded to over 114 hotels nationwide. What stands out is their commitment to environmental sustainability; they take conscientious steps to minimize their ecological footprint—from using recycled materials to ensuring that their products are eco-friendly. This harmonious integration of luxury and responsibility resonates deeply with environmentally conscious travellers.

The meticulous attention to food and beverage quality caught my attention as well. Regular supervision from the corporate office ensures that guests receive not just meals, but an experience rooted in quality and care. Additionally, the concept of cross-marketing within the Fern group fosters a strong team spirit and interconnectedness among their various properties, enriching the overall guest experience.

    Final Thoughts

My time at The Fern Residency, Haridwar, was an enlightening experience that exceeded my expectations in every way. From the serene surroundings and comfortable accommodations to the delightful culinary offerings and superior hospitality, it proved to be an ideal retreat for my family and me. Whether you’re looking to explore the deeper spiritual connections of Haridwar or simply seeking a peaceful getaway amidst nature, this hotel is a perfect choice. I left with wonderful memories and a newfound appreciation for this beautiful area, eager to share my experience with fellow travellers.

In short, The Fern Residency, Haridwar, is a beautiful blend of modernity and tradition, perfectly encapsulating the essence of this timeless city. I highly recommend it for anyone planning to visit Haridwar or the nearby Himalayan foothills.
