The vibrant cultural tapestry of Arunachal Pradesh is set to come alive in the national capital as the ‘Festival of Arunachal 2026,’ organised by the Department of Tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh with the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, will be held on 21–22 February 2026 at Dilli Haat, INA, New Delhi.
The two-day cultural and tourism showcase aims to present the rich heritage of India’s northeastern frontier through its indigenous traditions, performing arts, textiles, handicrafts, cuisine, and emerging tourism experiences. The festival will bring together artisans, cultural troupes, performers, influencers, dignitaries, and visitors on a single platform, offering an immersive engagement with Arunachal Pradesh’s living heritage.
The festival will be attended by Shri Pasang Dorjee Sona, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Tourism, Rural Works, Libraries and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, along with dignitaries from the Ministry of Tourism and invited guests.
The exhibition will open to visitors from 10:30 AM onwards on both days, offering an authentic experience of Arunachal Pradesh’s cultural and tourism offerings. Exhibitors who have travelled from various districts of Arunachal Pradesh will showcase traditional handlooms and indigenous textiles, handcrafted bamboo and cane products, Tribal jewellery and artefacts, organic produce and local products, authentic Arunachali cuisine, including local delicacies prepared using region-specific herbs and ingredients.
Visitors will have the opportunity to interact directly with artisans and cultural representatives, strengthening awareness about the state’s craftsmanship and sustainable livelihood practices.
One of the major highlights of the festival will be the Traditional Yak Dance performance, symbolising the high-altitude Himalayan culture of Arunachal Pradesh. The dance reflects the close relationship between the communities and their natural environment, particularly in the mountainous regions.
The festival will also feature a grand cultural showcase comprising curated performances, folk music presentations, and an ethnic fashion show celebrating the traditional attire of Arunachal’s diverse tribal communities.
Arunachal Pradesh, often referred to as the “Land of the Rising Sun,” is home to over 26 major tribes and more than 100 sub-tribes, each contributing to the state’s diverse cultural identity. With vast forest cover, extraordinary biodiversity, and growing adventure and eco-tourism opportunities, the state is steadily emerging as a sought-after destination for experiential travel.
By hosting the festival in New Delhi, the organisers aim to strengthen awareness among policymakers, tourism stakeholders, and urban audiences while promoting sustainable and responsible tourism practices.
The event is open to the public, inviting residents of Delhi-NCR and visitors to experience the spirit, artistry, and traditions of Arunachal Pradesh in the heart of the capital.
