- What makes Paper & Pie unique in its positioning, and if you could share your thoughts on the branding and concept?
Paper and Pie distinguishes itself as more than a mere coffee destination. The brand aims to exceed customer expectations with premium coffee, healthy cuisine and unparalleled customer service. While patrons initially step in for the coffee, they inevitably embrace the entirety of what we offer, i.e., a tranquil ambiance, premium culinary offerings and a versatile space conducive to work, socializing, or personal reflection. The brand offers a seamless blend of cafe and restaurant dining experiences.
- Can you share with us some examples of how Paper & Pie adapted to the F&B trends in Bangalore to attract a larger customer base?
A: In the buzzing F&B scene of Bangalore, we saw a gap for a place that suits everyone. Paper & Pie offers a menu that caters to the discerning consumer demanding healthy, high-quality food in a convenient and cost-effective setting. The brand has embraced the trend of specialty coffee, elevating it from a utilitarian beverage to a stratified luxury item. From graphic designers to corporate professionals and individuals engrossed in creative endeavors to those seeking a serene study environment, our inclusive setting, such as a conference room and podcast room, accommodates various preferences. Families, friends, and solo visitors alike find solace in our space, enjoying delectable meals or immersing themselves in our curated library.
We infuse an element of surprise into our concept and marketing through multiple channels, including online and social media, aligning with contemporary marketing strategies to attract a larger customer base.
- How has Paper & Pie successfully incorporated a fusion of international and regional flavors to cater to diverse palates? Can you give us an example of a dish that exemplifies this fusion?
Our culinary approach seamlessly blends international and regional flavors. Notably, our coffee hails from Chikmangalore, a prominent coffee growing location in Karnataka. Our menu exemplifies a fusion of local tastes with contemporary twists. A standout example is our Organic P&P Honey Cake, a nostalgic childhood local treat elevated with organic honey, enhanced flavors, and decadent layers. Additionally, our reinterpretation of certain classic sourdough dishes, such as cottage cheese lasagna in butter gravy, beetroot salad, butter chicken quiche, etc., showcases our dedication to innovative fusion cuisine.
- Could you elaborate on some of the local community partnerships that Paper & Pie has engaged in to promote inclusivity and support the local community?
Integral to our commitment to inclusivity is our engagement with local community partners. Beyond sourcing coffee beans locally, we actively engage with the local community by supporting it through sourcing local produce and also hiring local employees. A forthcoming venture includes specialty merchandise featuring handmade cups and mugs locally, seamlessly blending traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics.
- Could you provide some insights into the journey that the cafe has gone through and how it envisions its growth in the future?
Paper and Pie started with its flagship store in Indiranagar, Bengaluru, which has been operational since June 2022. Reflecting on our journey, our brand’s inception aimed for a distinctive presence in the cafe business. The subsequent opening of the second store in January 2023 indicates a phased expansion plan. The cafe envisions further growth, with the third and fourth stores scheduled to open by the end of 2023. The envisioned future entails a presence in numerous cities across the country, adhering to a sustainable and replicable model while upholding the essence of our distinctive ambiance, high-quality offerings, and broad audience appeal.
