    Dastkari Haat Craft Bazaar Celebrates 11 Years in Pune

    Dastkari Haat Samiti enters its 11th year of vibrant presence in Pune with the Dastkari Haat Craft Bazaar, at a beautiful new venue created by the Pune Municipal Corporation under the Smart City Program.

    This year, the Bazaar, in collaboration with the Pune Municipal Corporation, will be held at Kalagram, located within P.L. Deshpande Garden, next to the Pune–Okayama Friendship Garden on Sinhagad Road, Pune. This newly developed cultural space is dedicated to promoting arts, crafts and culture through artist studios, workshops and engaging programs for the citizens of Maharashtra.

    The Dastkari Haat Craft Bazaar will run from 30th October to 9th November 2025, between 11:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M. Visitors can explore over 120 stalls featuring arts, crafts and textiles from across India, celebrating the creativity and craftsmanship of thousands of artisan families.

    The inauguration ceremony will be on 30th October at 5:00 PM. The dignitaries who will be a part of the ceremony are Smt. Madhuri Satish Misal, Minister of State for Urban Development of Maharashtra; Tirtha Misal, Architect; Naval Kishore Ram, Pune Municipal Commissioner and Shri. Omprakash Divate, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Special) from Pune Municipal Corporation. Charu Verma, Project Head, will also be present from the Dastkari Haat Samiti team.

    Some of the renowned artisans who will be participating in this Bazaar from Maharashtra are:

    • Minu Joshi from Toy Trunk Private Limited – specializing in chennapatna toy craft.
    • Jhumkee Iyengar from Ohrna, specializing in Kantha embroidery on jute and combined with cotton fabrics.
    • Pravin Badwe from Parasram Audhyogik Hatmag Vinkar Shakari Sanstha Nagpur – specializing in textile kosa silk saree, kosa silk fabric, dress material.
    • Rohit Shankar Rathod from Embroidery Banjara, specializing in Banjara Embroidery.
    • Santosh Vijay More from Tukaz Export – specializing in handmade leather Kolhapuri chappal.
    • Niraj V. Borate from Pra. Vinayak Borate Foundation – specializing in Ghongadi and Godhadi (Quilt).

    Handicrafts from other states will also be showcased, including art forms such as Wood Carvings and Inlay, Pichwai Painting, Pattu Weaving, Cewel Embroidery, Banana Fiber Craft, Chamba Embroidery, Kala Cotton Weaving, Sabai Grass Weaving from Odisha, Gond Painting, and Weaving Crafts from West Bengal.

    Speaking about the event, Jaya Jaitly, Founder of Dastkari Haat Samiti, said, “We are proud and honored to be part of this wonderful new creative platform for art, craft and culture established by the Pune Municipal Corporation. After holding crafts events annually in Pune for 11 years, Kalagram will be a true and permanent home for our cultural practitioners. Artists flourish in such embracing environments and our Dastkari Haat will present the very best of India’s traditional skills as always.”

    Commenting on the event, Tirtha Misal, Artist, said, “Kalagram was created keeping in mind the rich cultural background of our city and country and fostering something remarkable together. We are delighted for Dastkari Haat Samiti, the creators of Dilli Haat to be the one taking the lead and initiating this beautiful journey ahead.”

    This year, the Bazaar will feature over 30 new crafts, arts and textiles, complete with live skill demonstrations by talented artisans. There will be captivating folk cultural performances including Chhau dancers from West Bengal and Manganjyar singers from Rajasthan.

    The craft Bazaar will also feature delicious food stalls offering a variety of traditional cuisines from Rajasthan and Delhi throughout the event and Delhi throughout the end.
