Cruising On The Coast
Novotel Visakhapatnam Varun Beach
Imagine waking up on the super cozy luxury bed with the golden sunbeams kissing you for a warm good morning call….you open your eyes without moving a single muscle and shimmering in the front right through the glass panes, the deep marine blue Bay of Bengal– the golden ball rising from the horizon.
Imagine a lazy afternoon, you are floating on the crystal infinity pool, red wine in hand, overlooking the blue sky merging with the mighty sea vista!
Imagine, listening to the live Gazals on a Saturday evening while enjoying your Murg-Handi-Lazeez at Zaffran, an ambience that offers a perfect symphony of tradition and grandeur.
These may all sound to be too good for fairy tale hospitality, but, believe it or not, an experience at Novotel Visakhapatnam Varun Beach is no less romantic!
It was almost midnight when I reached the gorgeous property at Vishakapatnam. Thanks to a Global political event that was happening in the city, the roads were all decorated with colourful lights and various glittering banners and hangouts. Sleepy, mystified, and yet contended with the warm and joyous welcome (even at 12:30 am) by Ms. Doli and other staff at the reception, my entry into my charming room was nothing sort of dramatic! Stunned by the astonishing view right at the front, where the black sea waves were embracing the sand beach almost rhythmically turning into milk-white bubbles in sharp contrast with the mighty Bay of Bengal at midnight, I deliberately switched off all the lights in the room just to sit by the glass window and cherish the moment. The enchantment broke when the phone rang. Senior Chef Srikanth from the other side was kind enough to offer me authentic Andhra cuisine, which I gladly accepted.
Not many five-star luxuries can promise you a morning that begins with a view of the surreal blue sky with patches of white clouds scattered on it and the prodigious and awe-inspiring Bay of Bengal below, with all its bright colourful morning glory. By the time it was 9, I was all set to meet Ms. Tilottama Ganguly, Cluster Assistant Manager – Marketing and Communications at The Square for breakfast. After a delectable continental breakfast, Tilottama was kind enough to show me around the magnificent property.

Gastronomy
When it comes to food and restaurants, Novotel Visakhapatnam stands out for creating a canvas with art, nature, ambience, and ofcourse delicious food. Each of the five restaurants is at the same time unique in terms of its design, theme category of food and similar in terms of a dazzling view of the Bay of Bengal under the ravishing blue sky that immediately builds up an unspoken bond with nature and surroundings beyond the unmissable luxury.
The glamorous ‘The Square’, picturesque ‘Infinity’, aristocratic ‘Zaffran’, ship-themed ‘Harbour Vue’, and the sweet and cosy corner of ‘Sugarr’ – each has its own appeal and is worth exploring. A long discussion session with Executive Chef Sunal Thakur revealed many secrets of the art of food and presentations and how they are putting all the efforts into offering the guests a taste of local and organic food along with the various cuisines of the world. The hotel also conducts occasional food fests with various regional cuisines.
So if you happen to travel to this part of the world, must not miss enjoying a 5-star luxury on a seashore at the Novotel Visakhapatnam Varun Beach hotel. Your room’s sleek contemporary style creates a tranquil refuge, and picture windows provide you with stunning views of the Bay of Bengal. Rise and shine with a dip in the infinity pool and a magnificent Indian and Western buffet breakfast all along with the feel of cruising on the land.
The Bheemli Resort – Managed by AccorHotels
A 50 km heavenly drive through the shiny highway with the waves of the Bay of Bengal almost touching one side of the road and the riots of green coconut trees on the other kneeling to welcome you to their land, would take you to a tranquil quietness called Bheemili Beach. Nestled away from the hustle-bustle of Visakhapatnam City, situated in this beautiful and serene town called Bheemunipatnam The Bheemili Resort won my heart even before I entered my room.
Warm greetings by gorgeous Manager Mr. Anish Ranjan, Manager and the much-needed welcome drink immediately made me relaxed and contended. No matter whether you are a business traveler or on a family vacation, the view of the blue marines all around your room and the peace of the property would turn your days into some miracle-distressing workshops.
The next best thing about The Bheemili resort after the sublime location and view is ‘The AyurBay’. The Bheemili resort provides you with the ideal combination of warm hospitality to relax while enjoying a wide range of Ayurvedic and cutting-edge Western treatments at “The AyurBay,” a custom spa designed by experts to calm your soul. The property has a beautiful green lawn, a surprisingly large field for sports and walks, organic fields as well as a corner for meditation under the open sky. Through specially designed wellness programmes and holistic treatment approaches, the specialist team, which includes an Ayurvedic Vaidya (doctor) and trained therapists, is available to help you refuel and rejuvenate yourself.
The ever-beaming Avijit who is in charge of the Rooms among other things took me to a round of the not-so-big but well-planned campus. 28 superbly designed rooms with expansive private balconies overlooking the sea, an infinity pool, a fitness center, a jogging/walking track, a theatre room, and an all-day dining restaurant called “The Square,” which serves both international and regional cuisine, are also included in the property. Also, I was so happy to find a few guests enjoying their holiday with their furry family members in this wonderful property. Avijit confirmed to me, yes, Bheemili Resort is Pet-friendly.
I must not conclude before mentioning my personal favourite, ‘Teppanyaki’, a Japanese outlet that is a water bar and meeting spaces with a perfect ambience for progressing conversations. Located on the rooftop adjacent to the infinity pool, the chefs at ‘Teppanyaki makes some of the most delicious Japanese and Indian dishes I have ever tasted.
After a relaxing swim session in the pool, looking at the queues of the fishermen’s boats just like cavalcades on horses, rowing from the river towards the deep sea only to disappear slowly beyond the horizon as the sun sets on the Bay of Bengal, I promise to myself this is the place I should come back again.
