According to an announcement by Uttarakhand Police on Saturday there would be restrictions on the movement of the people from other states to Uttarakhand. The entry would be allowed only after undergoing the Rapid Antigen Covid-19 test.

“Strict instructions are given to the policemen posted on the border check posts for proper checking and keeping the full details of people coming from other states to Uttarakhand,” said Arun Mohan Joshi, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Dehradun.

The decision would affect the already severely damaged tourism industry after a long lock down period due to the pandemic. Although, there have been no considerable rise in the number of active cases in the state since the entry restrictions have been lifted, the decision to further restrict the movement did come as a surprise to many.

Uttarakhand state capital is preparing for a weekly lockdown of all market places from Sunday, November 29 with the exception of shops selling essential items.
