Kolkata, November 2023: As we embrace the joyous holiday season, the cherished and heart-warming tradition of cake mixing takes centre stage in the midst of festive gatherings. Courtyard by Marriott Shillong celebrated a momentous occasion as it hosted its very first Cake Mixing Ceremony on the 5th of November, 2023. This event marked a significant milestone for the hotel, symbolizing the commencement of the festive season and showcasing the property’s commitment to creating memorable experiences for its guests.

The festive spirit was in full swing as the hotel premises resonated with the joyous essence of this cherished ritual, with city enthusiasts, loyal patrons, in-house members, and associates partaking in this celebrated custom. This evening was graced by prominent personalities, various socialites, and influencers/bloggers.

The traditional cake-mixing ceremony kicks off one month before Christmas and is believed to bring about good fortune and a joyous time. Long before the cake is actually prepared, it’s the enthusiasm and vigour in mixing a variety of ingredients that herald the spirit of holiday cheer. During this time, an array of fruits and nuts are collected and incorporated into the delicious and time-honoured plum cake. All the elements, including spirits, dried fruits, cherries, dates, and spices, are meticulously blended and soaked in alcoholic beverages like brandy, rum, and wine, allowing them to mature before the baking process takes place.

The evening attested to the attendance of connoisseurs and popular faces of the city donning the apron, cap and gloves, coming together to manage the colourful mounds of dry fruits, nuts and other concoctions to herald in the lively joyous Christmas season. The event unfolded as a splendid high tea experience, where various desserts like Spicy apple cake, White chocolate & berry macaroon, Classic Yule log, Curry leaves butter cookies, and Lemon tea cake were served, tempting the palates of all patrons. Alongside these sweet treats, a splendid array of delectable dishes, including BBQ chicken wings, BBQ pork ribs, and Chicken satay with peanut sauce, were also served, satisfying the appetites of the guests. It was an evening of pure culinary delight, enjoyed by all who partook in the festivities.

On this inaugural occasion of grand cake mixing at Courtyard by Marriott Shillong, Mr. Tushar Nagar, General Manager, Courtyard by Marriott Shillong, proudly shares, “We were absolutely delighted to host our first inaugural Cake Mixing Ceremony at Courtyard by Marriott Shillong. The festive spirit was in full swing as our hotel premises resonated with the joyous essence of this cherished ritual.
