Cheetah safari to be allowed from February at Kuno Palpur National Park
February is going to be a little bit more interesting, and here’s how. If reports are true, Kuno Palpur National Park will be getting more cheetahs in the coming days. They will be a welcome addition to the eight cheetahs that were brought in from Namibia last year in September. For those who are waiting to see these cheetahs, the wait will be over in no time. Very soon, in the month of February itself, cheetah safari will be allowed at Kuno Palpur National Park.
It is imperative to note that recently, India and South Africa signed an agreement, under which more cheetahs will be flown in from South Africa to India annually, for the next eight to 10 years. These cheetahs will be distributed to a number of national parks in the country.
Though there has been a word of confirmation from the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan about the much-awaited cheetah safari in February, there is no official date yet. The state government is hopeful that the new cheetah safari will help boost tourism in the state, and will be beneficial for the tribal communities too.
