Celebrate National Tourism Day with The Tamara Coorg
Every year on January 25 th , we celebrate National Tourism Day to encourage tourism across the country. National Tourism day is observed to promote the many tourist attractions in India and acknowledges the significant contribution of the sector to the economy. In the aftermath of the pandemic, travellers are now making conscious efforts to be more mindful of the negative impacts of tourism. In a heartening trend, we are now seeing more tourists who choose to holiday at planet-friendly properties, that incorporate sustainability practices as a way of life.
As a conscious responsible hospitality brand, The Tamara Coorg has always strived to offer guests unparalleled nature-centric experiences. The resort has been built so as to not disturb the natural landscape and rich biodiversity of the region, using sustainable materials, and minimising our carbon footprint. True to our core values, we believe strongly in giving back to the people and planet. In our effort to give back to the community, our teams have often come up with great initiatives that leave lasting impacts.
Clean-up Drives
Staff members at The Tamara Coorg participate in neighbourhood cleaning drives from time to time. One such cleaning drive was carried out in the adjoining village of Kakkabe. Thirteen Tamarites volunteered to clean the area and gather trash such as plastic, paper, bottles, and other items. The trash was then separated and handled using Tamara Coorg’s Waste Management System.
Upskilling and Knowledge Exchange Initiative
We invited a delegation of aspiring hoteliers from Atithi Vriksha Shiksha to visit the resort for a tour of operations. The interactive workshop aimed to provide students with an opportunity to observe and learn everyday activities, corporate structures, regulations, and the best practices. Knowledge exchange is a critical component of encouraging many stakeholders to experience the numerous ways in which hospitality is changing today.
Supporting Local Schools and Communities
The Tamara Coorg had the pleasure of funding tables and chairs for a local middle school’s nursery department to add to their infrastructure. As part of a small and close-knit community in Coorg, we believe in giving back to the community and providing assistance in basic but important ways.
Community Outreach Programmes
The Tamara Coorg team dedicated their final weeks of 2022 to community service. In December last year, 11 staff members took part in a blood donation drive organised by the Rotary Club of Madikeri. In another such initiative, our staff members personally distributed food to the Janaseva Orphanage and Old Age Home in Suntikoppa, Kodagu.
