“ Let’s switch off the AC for the moment and lower the window panes and enjoy this freshness in the air”; we requested Pradeesh Kumar our chauffeur, as our car was racing through the shiny highways surrounded by the breathtaking landscape of western Ghats in Karnataka.
Although being on my wish list for a long time, I could never manage to travel much in this part of incredible India. The 3.5-hour drive from Bangalore had already made me regret not experiencing this Narnian landscape before. Passing through the lofty green hills full of coffee, cardamom, pepper and areca plantations, until Shekharan took the final turn towards the main entrance of the magnificent R ( Rosetta by Ferns), no one could imagine the presence of such a sumptuous property nestled in the natural beauty of Western Ghats.
A sense of meditative calmness engulfs the soul as soon as we enter the premises. The sound of winds kissing through the tall Jasmine trees, chirping birds, the green riots all around would instantly touch a nature lover. Add to this divine welcome of nature was the warm reception of the smiling Rosettians. As we stepped out of the car, we hardly knew the next couple of days were going to be a unique luxurious delight of both mind and heart.
The Premium Beds
An electric buggy driven by a jovial staff took me to my Teak Suite.
I was pleasantly surprised to feel the calmness and the serenity of the outside nature are so much transmitted to this nest with large lounge and bedroom areas with all the comfort you’d expect, and all the space you need. No sooner had I entered the spacious bedroom which is a mixture of elegance and tradition than I heard the sweet call of a wagtail. The little bird was happily strolling on the balcony that opens the view of the green forest and the blue lake glittering with the winter sunlight. Even before you explore and experience the expansive luxury right in the lap of nature, small little moments of joy like this would make you fall in love with the place in no time.
Dawdling around the suite felt like walking in a virgin forest specially curated for you. One of the most captivating features of every accommodation in Rosetta is undoubtedly the ‘Open Shower’. One of those memories that anyone would love to recall is the experience of having a shower under the blue sky surrounded by green plants and yet a sense of complete privacy and dignity.
Nestled in the 100-acre coffee plantations in a landscape known as one of the world’s ten “Hottest biodiversity hotspots” Rosetta by Ferns has 125 spacious suites and villas. In the utmost comfort and style, one can unwind in a Rosetta luxury suite. The superior room has all the modern conveniences you would expect from a hotel of this caliber, as well as a seating space and high glass windows with views of the lush forest.
As the sun sets behind the green horizon, the curtain unfolds to set in motion a whole new world. The silence of nature, the blurred lights, the mystic darkness, and the scent of the forest all around, add to this, with the bouquet of exciting customised options by Rosetta and there is no reason one should not have a holiday to remember forever.
For me, I wanted nothing more than a relaxed evening by the pool with my favourite drink, till it is time to indulge in the culinary voyage.
Culinary Delight
This is not exceptional that a premium Hospitality will have well-trained manpower to take care of their guests in a most polite and warm manner. But I found the courteousness and affability displayed by the Roesettians are indeed spontaneous and sincere. The kitchen is no exception to that.
Teatro – The Estate Kitchen
If its unique location in the lap of nature and the aesthetically designed suites with open showers are some of the highlights of the stay in Rosetta, the culinary offerings, on the other hand, is one crowning glory that every Rosettians take pride of.
“The name Teatro or theater is given from the perspective of transparency. Just like in a theater, there is a direct connection between the audience and performers, our restaurant offers not only an open view of the kitchen but also a stage for free communication to understand each other’s needs,” explained Chef Kailash. The gorgeous expensive restaurant has options for open dining while enjoying the pulse of nature.
Merchants of Spice
If Teatro boasts of a variety of global as well as customised gastronomical delights, another restaurant Merchants of Spice is a place to enjoy different regional cuisines from all over the country. I can never appreciate enough Chef Manjeet who curated for us an enthralling evening of absolute pleasure. The delicious menu consisting of items made full of love and skill along with the magic of the location and company of amazing people made that evening really exceptional.
Amish
For pure vegetarian folks, there is Amish. As the name suggests it reflects the purity and they made sure to transform pure organic productions from the farms around directly to the table.
Ouzo by fire
No matter which part of this picturesque property your nest is, one can’t miss the open-air blue pool. The bar by the side of the pool and the surrounding view of the green nature, lakes with ducks and other water birds freely moving around easily make Ouzo by Fire one prominent attraction of Rosetta by ferns. I would remember spending a lazy evening by the poolside. The first floor of the Ouzo by Fire provides a wide range of leisure facilities and event options for its guests.
A Divine Day
Not ever an early riser; but to my own surprise, I found myself waking up at 6: 30 am. The hint of golden sunbeams peeking through a corner of the window curtain immediately lifted the mood. After all, who would want to miss the temptation of sitting on the balcony sipping green tea listening to the bird songs and completely losing your heart to the tranquility of the moment?
Full many a glorious morning have I seen
Flatter the mountain tops with sovereign eye,
Kissing with golden face the meadows green,
Gilding pale streams with heavenly alchemy …
To revitalise your mind, one has the option of attending the morning Yoga season guided by an Expert trainer while there is Iyasya Spa where the extremely well-trained staff would be waiting for you to rejuvenate your body. . However, I finally chose the other option to put on my jogging show and breathe some fresh oxygen while exploring this land of natural beauty so efficiently maintained and managed by the Resort. The blooming sunflowers, cerulean lake waters, the absorbent scent of various plants and flowers – what more do you want to start a perfect holiday morning? Enchanted, I must have walked a long distance. A buggy (the usual transport lifeline of the property ) helped me to come back to my Teak suite.
A Walk in the Woods
Later that day, we found ourselves all decked up for a ‘nature walk’. While this is an incredible fact about Rosetta by Ferns that no matter which suite or which part of the property you are in, whether enjoying your breakfast or morning tea, watching TV, lying on your cozy bed or even taking a bath, you are always in touch with the green nature or rather, should I say, nature is always watching you! This natural amalgamation of luxury with nature would be the prime reason for me to repeat my holiday plan to this unique property.
Well-informed and enthusiastic Dhananjay guided us through the campus towards the side of dense forestation. He proudly shared with us that we have planted much more trees and restored forest lands than they were used to build this property. For the next few hours, we had a fascinating journey learning about various plants, their usage and how Rosetta Resort has been involved in procuring different organic products and distribution.
Every element of this property whether natural or man-made has been positioned and maintained with a sense of aesthetic. The Rosetta Chapel is no exception to that. Dhananjay told us the rustic Chapel has been witness to a number of memorable occasions.
