Air India has entered into a codeshare partnership with Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), expanding travel options between India and Azerbaijan while improving connectivity across both airlines’ networks.
The agreement introduces Baku as a new destination available to AI customers through Azerbaijan Airlines-operated services, giving travellers more options for journeys between the two countries and beyond.
Under the partnership, Air India will place its ‘AI’ code on Azerbaijan Airlines’ daily flights operating between Delhi and Baku and Mumbai and Baku. Customers will be able to book these services on a single Air India ticket while travelling on flights operated by Azerbaijan Airlines.
The new arrangement builds on the existing interline agreement between the two carriers, allowing passengers to travel on a single itinerary that combines flights operated by both airlines. For example, travellers flying from Bangkok can connect through Delhi before continuing to Baku on Azerbaijan Airlines.

Through this codeshare with Azerbaijan Airlines, customers travelling to Baku will benefit from a seamless booking and travel experience while improving connectivity between India and international destinations.”

Since privatization in 2022, AI has steadily grown its global partnership network. The airline now holds 26 codeshare agreements and over 120 interline partnerships, enabling travellers to reach more than 1,000 destinations worldwide via partner airlines.
