A Weekend at The Isle by Wonderla: An Island Dream Just Outside Bengaluru

As a lifestyle and travel journalist, media trips tend to blur together after a while—yet, my recent invite to The Isle by Wonderla, the newest offering from the Wanderla group, turned out to be a rare, remarkable experience.

Perched just a drive away from Bengaluru, The Isle Wonderla is more than a regular weekend getaway. The moment I arrived, I was whisked away on a buggy to my room—and that first glimpse was unforgettable. Designed with an eye for detail and soul, every corner pulses with an authentic island vibe. The room was cozy and compact, not the largest I’ve seen, but the layout made clever use of every inch. What truly stole my heart was the private open-back, facing a stretch of serene blue water with a hammock gently swinging above. For a moment, I genuinely wondered if I’d been airlifted to the Maldives.

The boutique resort is the result of a whopping 39-crore investment over 4.5 lush acres—a bold move in the already competitive leisure market around Bengaluru. Yet, as I explored, it became clear this wasn’t just about luxury, but an experience carefully crafted to delight guests at every step.

After a quick freshen-up, the evening rolled into a series of splendid. We started with a coffee blending session that gave us—journalists and influencers galore—a taste of the property’s hands-on ethos. Networking with other media folks and the hotel’s visionary leaders—Arun Chittilappilly (Executive Chairman & Managing Director), Dheeran Choudhary, Chief Operating Officer, and a warm, enthusiastic team set the tone for the night.

A walk around the thoughtfully planned grounds was nothing short of impressive: flickering bonfire pits, trickling water bodies, temperature-controlled pools, stylish jacuzzis, and cozy glamping tents. My favourite were the starview rooms that are just as magical they sound—imagine stargazing on a balmy island night, all within easy reach of city. Architect Reshma Karmark truly outdid herself, cocooning each guest in an immersive water-inspired setting that hums with tranquility.

Dinner was a surprise highlight—The Isle Wonderela’s Pan Asian restaurant. While the menu is intentionally, each dish was a revelation: fresh, balanced, and beautifully plated. I’ve eaten in some acclaimed city spots, but the meal here ranks among my favourites.

A good news for pet-parents, The Isle by Wonderla truly stands out as not just pet-friendly but also thoughtful in its facilities for companions—a dedicated pet park ensures your pets have just as much fun as their during the stay. It’s heartening to see a resort where four-legged guests are just as valued.

Additionally, the property’s focus on wellness is evident, with the Therapy Tree spa already operational, promising rejuvenation and relaxation for all visitors. Whether you’re seeking a relaxing retreat or an indulgent family getaway (pets included), The Isle goes the extra to make everyone feel at home. This is one aspect that I have missed this time and this is one more reason, I would love to make a come back to this wonderful property.

Arun summed up their vision best—offering a one-of-a-kind experience for Bengalureans seeking rest, celebrations, or even corporate get-togethers without the stress of a long drive. Their focus is clear: creating a haven for city folk longing to recharge and reconnect.

Walking back to my room under a sky glittering with stars, I found myself grateful not just an expertly planned media trip, but for an escape that truly lived up to the hype. If you’re looking for own not-so-far-flung island getaway, TheIslewonderela might just be your oasis.

    Rating: 4.5/5
