16th February 2024, New Delhi: A visit to the Baro Market – Bengal Bazaar in Hauz Khas, Delhi curated by  Srila Chatterjee can undoubtedly make your day. As the name suggests the show has it all that you may associate with Bengal- be it art, apparel, or home decor! Srila has hosted this bazaar in Mumbai over the last 5 years and it continues to get bigger and better with each passing year. This time, Srila brings this show to Delhi at Hauz Khas from the 15th to the 17th of February.

As a lover of art, design, and craft, I was excited to explore this specially curated market and experience the unique offerings it had in store.

In a conversation with TW Srila informed, “Baro Market is a platform that celebrates crafts, culture, and community, while also promoting conscious living. With over 60 designers, artists, and craftsmen from all over India, Baro Market showcases a diverse range of products, including apparel, art, home décor, stationery, toys, beauty, wellness, and edibles.”

The Bengal Bazaar, which was being held in Delhi for the very first time, showcased some of the finest fashion brands and craftsmen from West Bengal. From zero-waste clothing by GVfashion to classic needlework from Shantiniketan, the bazaar offered something for everyone’s taste.

One of the highlights of the event was the presentation by SSAHAWORKS. Their collection featured saris, stoles, dresses, and accessories crafted from the finest muslin hand-spun cotton, muslin Jamdanis, and hand-spun silk jamdanis. The attention to detail and exquisite craftsmanship of their pieces were truly remarkable.

LATASITA, another participating label, showcased their zero-waste clothing made from fabulous materials rarely found in regular shops. It was inspiring to witness their commitment to sustainability and creating fashion that is both beautiful and ethical.

ANKI BUNKI showcased the best of Bengal’s craft in new-age jewelry and fashion. Their collection had a contemporary twist on traditional designs, making them perfect for those who appreciate modern aesthetics with a touch of tradition.

Bhomra presented the coolest Jamdani dresses for both men and women. Their collection was a fusion of traditional Jamdani craft and contemporary fashion, offering a unique and stylish range of clothing options.

The Bindi Project showcased handmade bespoke bindis. Their collection was a tribute to the timeless beauty of bindis and added a touch of elegance to any outfit. It was delightful to see the creative possibilities that can arise from this small accessory.

In addition to these brands, there were other noteworthy labels such as 145 EAST, Harpers Lane, Bunophal, Sadaf, and Needle, each presenting their distinctive collections that celebrated Indian art, design, and craft.

What sets Baro Market apart is its commitment to conscious living. All the products showcased at the event were sensibly priced and ethically sourced. The market aims to promote locally made products and support homegrown brands and grassroots craftsmen. This ethos was evident in the wide range of exclusive products available at the market.

Overall, my visit to Baro Market Bengal Bazaar was a delightful and enriching experience. It allowed me to appreciate the beauty of Indian art, design, and craft and also provided an opportunity to support local artisans and designers. I left the event feeling inspired and motivated to embrace conscious living and #GoVocalForLocal.

If you missed the Baro Market Bengal Bazaar in Delhi, don’t worry! Baro Market now retails online at https://baromarket.in/.
